PITCH REPORT - HD Ackerman is pitchside and he says that they will be playing on a fresh pitch. Explains that there has been a lot of cricket played on this venue with the emerging Asia Cup and the Lanka Premier League played here. Adds that this pitch has not been used much though so it looks really good. Mentions that it is shorter to one side while the other side is the same as the straight boundary. He is joined by Aamer Sohail who says that it is a much better-looking pitch than the one they have had at Hambantota. Claims that it is very hard with a grass covering which will help the ball slide onto the bat. Ends by saying that the team batting first will be required to get 260 and maybe go beyond that.
Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi says that in the last game, they played some good cricket and they will give their best in this game also. He adds that for 2 years they have been playing really good cricket and qualifying directly for the World Cup is a boost for them. He ends by mentioning the two changes in his team - Gulbadin Naib comes in for Ikram Alikhil and Abdul Rahman makes way for Fareed Ahmad.
Babar Azam, the skipper of Pakistan, says that they will bat first. Adds. that the pitch looks dry with a little bit of grass. Reckons that the first ten overs will be crucial. Also says that they want to put runs on the board and put pressure on Afghanistan. Mentions that they want to win every game they play and want to win the series as well. Informs that there are four changes in the team. Shares that they are pretty satisfied with the performance in the series and want to try different combinations. Feels that this pitch is different than the one used in LPL and reckons that 280-290 will be a good total.
