Catch of the Asia Cup! Wanindu Hasaranga takes one-handed worldie to dismiss Fakhar Zaman - watch video

Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga stole the show at the Asia Cup 2025 match against Pakistan at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. He not only took a spectacular one-handed low diving catch to dismiss Fakhar Zaman but also mocked Pakistan's Abrar Ahmed by copying his celebration style, adding spice to the Super 4s game.

The drama unfolded after Sri Lanka posted a modest total of 133/8, with Kamindu Mendis scoring a fifty. Pakistan's bowling attack had earlier dominated, with Shaheen Afridi taking three wickets and Abrar Ahmed bowling economically, giving away just 8 runs in his four overs.




The highlight of the match came during the last ball of the powerplay when Hasaranga pulled off a stunning one-handed catch diving to his right at mid-off off Maheesh Theekshana's bowling. The catch left Zaman shocked and spectators applauding.

The celebration rivalry began when Abrar Ahmed had earlier copied Hasaranga's trademark celebration after dismissing him during Sri Lanka's innings. Hasaranga got his revenge by mimicking Abrar's celebration style not once but twice - first after taking Zaman's catch and then after clean bowling Saim Ayub with a clever googly.

However, Sri Lanka were bundled out of the tournament after their second straight defeat in the Super 4s. Pakistan, meanwhile, kept their hopes of playing the final alive with a 5-wicket win with 12 balls to go.
