NEW DELHI: After the advent of T20 cricket, one can see many adventurous catching in the game.
The 'relay' catching, in which a fielder parries the ball to his teammate who eventually completes the catch, has become a common thing in the recent past. Relay catches, though, are mostly seen on the boundary line, with one fielder stopping the ball from crossing the ropes and assisting his partner to grab it.

But on the fourth day of the second Test between Sri Lanka and England at Kandy on Saturday, the phenomenon happened much closer to the stumps. England's Keaton Jennings combined with rookie wicketkeeper Ben Foakes for a spectacular 'relay' catch to dismiss Sri Lanka's Dimuth Karunaratne.
Jennings, fielding at the short leg, anticipated the trajectory of the ball well in advance when Karunaratne tried to sweep an Adil Rashid delivery. Jennings instinctively dived to his left but realised that he can't cling on to the catch and parried the ball to the keeper, who took a simple catch in the end.
