GG vs RCB, WPL Highlights: RCB remain unbeaten after 32-run triumph against Gujarat Giants

GG vs RCB, WPL Highlights: Royal Challengers Bengaluru produced a thrilling all-round performance to defeat Gujarat Giants by 32 runs and remain unbeaten in the 2026 Women's Premier League. After being sent in to bat, RCB faced early trouble, losing four wickets for just 43 runs in the sixth over. The innings was rescued by an exceptional fifth-wicket partnership between Radha Yadav and Richa Ghosh. Yadav’s 66 off 47 balls and Ghosh’s 44 off 28 balls added 105 crucial runs, allowing RCB to reach a competitive total of 182 for 7 in their 20 overs. Nadine de Klerk contributed a quickfire 26 to boost the team’s total.

RCB’s bowlers then came to the fore. Shreyanka Patil produced a stunning five-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 5 for 23, while England pacer Lauren Bell added three more wickets for 29 runs. Gujarat Giants showed some resistance through Bharti Fulmali’s 39 off 20 balls, but Bell dismissed her in the 17th over, leaving the visitors struggling at 139 for 7. They ultimately fell short, bowled out for 150 in 18.5 overs.

This third successive win for RCB underscores their dominance in WPL 2026. With a combination of experienced Indian players and impactful overseas recruits, they have displayed the perfect balance of resilience and firepower. The team now looks poised to continue their unbeaten run and strengthen their claim for the title.

Shreyanka Patil to Beth Mooney, OUT! LBW! That is some review and it certainly seemed to be missing leg in real time but kudos to Shreyanka Patil. This is bowled shorter and on leg stump, turns away a touch as well. Beth Mooney stays back and looks to flick but misses and gets hit high on the pads. There's half an appeal for LBW but it is turned down. However, after a long chat, Smriti Mandhana signals for the review and it seems like the bowler really wanted it. The third umpire is called in and checks UltraEdge first. Nothing on it and Ball Tracking comes up with three reds. Mooney has to depart after a brisk start.

We are back for the all-important run chase. The umpires are back out in the middle and the Super Sopper was also out during the break, which indicates that the dew has settled in. The RCB players take their places on the field and it will be the duo of Sophie Devine and Beth Mooney to open the innings for Gujarat Giants. Lauren Bell has been the star bowler in the Powerplay so far and she will take the new ball for RCB. Let's go...

21:21 (IST) Jan 16

... The Run Chase ...

21:15 (IST) Jan 16

Gujarat Giants have been a dominant force with the bat but can they do the job against Lauren Bell and co? RCB have won two out of two but while batting second. A different challenge awaits them? Stay tuned for the chase.

21:14 (IST) Jan 16

Richa Ghosh is up for a quick chat. She says that she had a chat with Radha Yadav and wanted to just build a partnership and take the game deep. Mentions that she wanted to rotate the strike better and not just look for the boundaries. Adds that Radha played brilliantly and both of them hit plenty of boundaries. Ends by saying that the opposition batters will come hard at them but they can surely defend it.

21:13 (IST) Jan 16

The Gujarat Giants will be kicking themselves for letting a position of absolute dominance slip through their fingers. After reducing the Royal Challengers to a vulnerable state, the Giants' discipline evaporated under pressure, allowing RCB to escape a subpar total through a flurry of late-innings runs. This tactical lapse was compounded by a subdued fielding performance in the second half, which lacked the intensity required to sustain their early momentum. While Sophie Devine stood out as the pick of the attack with three crucial wickets, the lack of support from the rest of the unit, who proved expensive despite chipping in has left the Giants facing a much steeper mountain to climb than they initially anticipated.

21:10 (IST) Jan 16

The recovery was built on the shoulders of Richa Ghosh and Radha Yadav, who combined for a magnificent 105-run partnership. It was a masterclass in rebuilding; they navigated the pressure of a precarious position with a blend of sensible strike rotation and calculated aggression. Ghosh, known for her finishing prowess, found an unlikely but incredibly steady ally in Radha Yadav, whose contribution ensured the Giants couldn't run through the tail. Not to take away the late cameo from Nadine De Klerk.

21:09 (IST) Jan 16

What an extraordinary turnaround we’ve witnessed at the DY Patil Stadium! Royal Challengers Bengaluru looked to be in dire straits after a top-order collapse left them reeling at 43/4. With the Giants' bowlers firing on all cylinders, RCB appeared headed for a sub-par total, but they showed the heart of a lion to claw their way back to a competitive 182/7.

Sent in to bat, RCB found themselves struggling at 43 for 4 in the sixth over, but a brilliant fifth-wicket partnership between Radha Yadav (66 off 47 balls) and Richa Ghosh (44 off 28 balls) steadied the innings.
