Can you hit big sixes? Harry Brook's sledge triggers Prasidh Krishna's instant dismissal - Watch
Prasidh Krishna faced 11 balls in India's second innings. The task given to India's No. 11 by all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was to negotiate the last two balls against the pacers, and he fulfilled it by surviving deliveries from Chris Woakes and Josh Tongue.
After a sudden collapse, Jadeja and Krishna forged a useful 15-run stand for the last wicket, which forced England captain Ben Stokes to bring back spinner Shoaib Bashir.
Jadeja took a single off the fourth ball, leaving Krishna with one job: block out the next two deliveries. On the last ball of Bashir's over, however, Krishna couldn’t control his instincts and threw away his wicket. But you can’t really blame him — he is, after all, a No. 11.
Before playing the rash shot, he was involved in a bit of banter with Harry Brook. The England batter asked him to hit a six, and Prasidh went for it on the very next ball — only to get out.
"Can you hit big sixes?" Brook asked Krishna.
Krishna replied, "If I had to, I would be called Brook."
But on the very next ball, Krishna went for glory, ending his 11-ball vigil.
On the final day of the match, Krishna will have a chance for redemption with the ball.
The lanky Karnataka pacer had a rough outing in the first innings, leaking 128 runs in 20 overs.
Krishna did take three wickets — including centurion Ollie Pope, local boy Harry Brook (who fell for 99), and Jamie Smith — but his erratic lengths made him expensive.
England need 350 runs on Day 5 to go 1-0 up in the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
