On Thursday, England won the toss and chose to bat against India in the third Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Test, with both teams welcoming back their premier fast bowlers Jofra Archer and Jasprit Bumrah. The five-match series stands level at 1-1, following England's five-wicket victory at Headingley and India's 336-run win at Edgbaston.
India brought back Bumrah in place of Prasidh Krishna, while Kuldeep Yadav remained on the sidelines.
Indian captain Shubman Gill shared his thoughts on the toss decision: "If there's anything in the wicket, it's going to be on the first few days. I think the contribution from everyone was great; that was what we were aiming for from all of us. The bowlers are feeling confident, it wasn't easy to take all those wickets on that pitch (at Edgbaston). I feel good when the hard work pays, it's very satisfying."
England XI: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes, Jamie Smith, Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer, and Shoaib Bashir.
India XI: Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Karun Nair, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Deep, and Mohammed Siraj.
