India vs Afghanistan Highlights, 2nd T20I: India beat Afghanistan by 6 wickets in Indore, take unassailable 2-0 lead in three-match series
India beat Afghanistan by six wickets in the second T20I to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series in Indore on Sunday.
Gulbadin Naib was the most successful batter for Afghanistan as he smashed a 35-ball 57, which had four hits to the fence and four sixes, to take the visitors to 172 all out.
Najibullah Zadran (23), Karim Janat (20) and Mujeeb Ur Rahman (21) also chipped in with useful contributions.
In reply, India reached the target in 15.4 overs with Yashasvi Jaiswal hitting a 34-ball 68 and Shivam Dube smashing an unbeaten 63 off 32 balls.
Virat Kohli, who is playing his first T20I after 14 months, played a 16-ball 29-run cameo.
Earlier, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh (3/32) snapped three wickets, while spinners Axar Patel (2/17) and Ravi Bishnoi (2/39) took two each.
Shivam Dube (1/36) accounted for one batter.

We are gonna bowl first. No particular reason. Just nature of the ground especially the small boundaries. The things we were talking in our meeting, we were able to come out and execute that in the first game. We asked specific roles from the guys and they performed accordingly. Not much, they don't have any baggage and it is all about backing them, allow them to be free on the ground. We will do things keeping the WC in mind but we know results are also important. Kohli and Jaiswal back for Gill and Tilak.

Traditionally a high scoring venue and that is because of a smaller ground, 60 and 63 meters either side. It is a flat pitch. I don't think the ball will move around much. Even the cracks that are present are hard. There might be a bit of movement with the new ball otherwise it is a batting paradise. Dew will also be a factor in the second innings. So, win the toss and bowl first.

Dangerous Afghans look to bounce back
It will be immature to take this Afghan side for granted. They have the wherewithal to hurt India on their day. The young Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Azmatullah Omarzai and the experienced Mohammad Nabi can tear apart a bowling unit as mercilessly as any other. Despite the absence of star spinner Rashid Khan, the Afghans have the services of Mujeeb ur Rahman, who was in good rhythm in the first match, Naveen-ul-Haq and Fazalhaq Farooqi. If they can fire in unison, it will not be far-fetched to expect cracker of a contest.

Tilak Varma offers a very similar case. The left-hander had made an excellent start to his T20I career last year, making 39, 51 and 49 not out against the West Indies in an away three-match series. But since then, Varma has tapered off. The next 13 innings have produced only one more fifty, against a below par Bangladesh in the Asian Games, with three 20-plus scores and one 30-plus knock dominating the rest of the outings. Those numbers are certainly not enough for the 21-year-old to land inside the larger scheme of things, and the effort to turn him into a part-time off-spinner too seemed to be having a feeble life. However, it remains to be seen whether Varma can retain his place in the side as star batsman Virat Kohli is available for this match after skipping the first game.
