We're fortunate that the wickets here at the Wankhede has been really good. And we've been able to dovetail quite nicely and put bowlers under pressure at the right times and help each other out along the way. (on his record here) Yes, I heard a lot to Rahul Sanghvi as well. He was telling me that, my game suits this ground.

Coming from Johannesburg at the Wanderers where you get a lot of similar pace and bounce. I didn't believe it when he was telling me, what this pitch would turn out to be for me. But, yeah, I really enjoy it. There's nice pace in it, you get great value for shots. And the ball really flies here.

So I kind of adapted my game around, our home venue. Always looking to get better, especially when we travel. But if I can have a good firm stake in the ground at this stadium, I'm quite happy with that.

(on these big chases) Yeah, the IPL's ridiculous in the way that these chases are being done nowadays. Like Surya said, I heard him saying, if you have a good start, it just sets the platform. And I think that's the trend in this team. We might not have lived up to it so far this year, but the power that we have, from 3 down to 7, 8, 9, the batters and the class and the calibre we have is through the roof. So I know that, if we can set a good platform, we win the powerplay. I won't say my job is done, but, with the class that we have lined up behind, it makes my role a lot clearer for me.

(Conversation after LSG's great start) "To be very frank, we've been in this situation a lot of times this season. It was nothing new, to be very honest. But then I knew, T20 cricket after the powerplay from 7 to 10, that's the best time when you can pull the game off. We knew two wickets here and there, and I can take control of the game. And the way all the bowlers responded, I think they showed a lot of character.

(on getting back into the game) I think about 8-9 overs, they were 110 or 120 for 1 or 2. I don't really remember. But then from there, pulling it to 162 for 5 in 16 overs, I think the performance was unbelievable. Everyone had that belief, they had their clear plans. I didn't tell them anything. It was just little, little backing involved in few situations. But then at the end of the day, the way they displayed their character and the way they bowled, I think commendable.

(on the chase) See, even we scored 244 a few days back and Sunrisers chased it. So we always knew, anything around 220-225-230 will be chaseable. And the way we started our batting, Ryan Rickelton, he has been batting beautifully. And as I said, at the toss, our very own Rohit Sharma coming back into the side, fit, ready, raring to go. And the way he displayed, the way he showed the entertainment to the crowd, I think it was unbelievable. (on the opening stand) See, I think it's always important to have a good start when you're chasing 200-225. And the way they batted together, it looked they were always in control. What team required from them, they did the same thing. And then at the end, the way Naman Dhir and everyone batted, I think it was nice.

(A few runs short?) "Definitely, the way we started, I think we should have gotten more runs. But definitely some good signs. Can't say that. Definitely the boys played freely, but in the end, I think they bowled well because they are used to these conditions, for sure.

See, definitely, we were short 10-15 runs because it was a 220-230 wicket for sure. And the way we started, we had that edge over them. But at the same time, in a wicket like this, you can't blame bowlers all the time. They've been doing a fantastic job for us. So definitely can't say much to them, for sure.

(What does the team need?) I think we need some good luck, man. That's the only thing I'm going to say. (how to find the luck?) Yeah, I think a lot of blessing is going to work around it. And it's going to take some more effort from us, for sure.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Ryan Rickelton wins the award for his outstanding knock of 83 off just 32 balls. He says that Rohit is one of Mumbai’s finest and among India’s all-time greats, and he genuinely enjoys batting alongside him. Adds that the wickets at the Wankhede have been excellent, and we back each other, constantly communicating and helping one another out in the middle.  As for batting here, he mentions that a lot of his teammates said his game would suit this venue. Coming from Johannesburg, he is used to pace and bounce, so it feels quite similar. He didn't think much of it initially, but he has really enjoyed it. The ball comes on nicely and allows you to play your shots. End by saying that he has adapted well and always looks to keep improving while staying grounded.

The victorious stand-in skipper of Mumbai Indians - Suryakumar Yadav, on what was the conversation in the strategic break after conceding 90 runs in the Powerplay, admits that they have been put into such a situation for several times this season but says that they knew they could control the game with a couple of wickets. He credits the bowlers for responding with great character and says pulling it back and restricting LSG to that total was brilliant. He adds that the bowlers had their plans and just needed to back them, and the character they showed was commendable. On the chat before coming out to bat, Suryakumar points to a previous game where MI scored 240 and Sunrisers still chased it down. Says that they knew it was chaseable and that the mindset was clear. Points to the start they got, praising Rickelton for his brilliant knock and reserving special words for Rohit Sharma, who came back raring to go and entertained the crowd in his own special way. On the opening partnership, he says it is always important to get a good start while chasing a big total, credits Rohit and Rickelton for doing exactly what was required, and also acknowledges the contributions of Naman Dhir and the rest of the group.

A quick chat - MI's Naman Dhir says that it feels good to win after suffering back-to-back defeats and chasing down a score of over 220. Adds that the chats in the dressing room have always been positive. They haven't clicked as a team, but the bowlers did a fine job, and then Rohit and Ryan Rickelton gave them the perfect start. They clicked as a team in this match. Dhir mentions that Rohit Sharma is a great player for them. Says he suffered a setback with the injury, but he is very important for the team. Says that he is just keeping his game plan simple, trying to keep his bat face straight when he is getting it in the middle and that is working for him.

The captain of Lucknow Super Giants - Rishabh Pant admits that given the start they got, they could have put more runs on the board. He feels they fell 15 to 20 runs short on what looked like a 240 to 250 kind of wicket. He adds that the boys played freely but credits the MI bowlers for bowling well and making good use of their home conditions. He adds that while they had an edge early on, on a wicket like this you cannot blame the bowlers all the time and says that they have done a fantastic job for the side so far. On what needs to be done to win, Pant keeps it simple and says they just need some good luck. And on where to find it, he smiles and says it will take plenty of blessings and a little more effort from the boys.

Lucknow's bowling falls flat - There isn't much to say about Lucknow’s bowling effort, it just never really clicked. They may have been 15-20 runs short, but the bigger concern was how flat they looked with the ball, especially in the Powerplay where they failed to pick up an early breakthrough. The middle overs didn’t offer any relief either, with Mumbai cruising along comfortably. Manimaran Siddharth picked up a couple of wickets, while Mohammad Shami and Mohsin Khan chipped in with one each, but the strikes were too scattered to make any real impact. Prince Yadav stood out with a tidy economy of around 8, but he received little to no support from the other end as runs kept leaking throughout the innings.

LSG fall short despite a flying start - Earlier in the game, Lucknow Super Giants posted their highest first-innings total of the season, but after storming to 123/1 in 8.1 overs, they will feel they fell short of a 250-plus score. Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran set things up with a fiery 94-run stand, Pooran bringing up a stunning 16-ball fifty, but his dismissal triggered a collapse from 123/1 to 160/5. Markram and Himmat Singh steadied things with a crucial 68-run stand to push them close to 230. Mumbai Indians were erratic early, but bounced back well with Corbin Bosch turning the tide with a double strike, the spinners chipped in, and Bumrah alongside Chahar nailed the death overs, conceding just 13 runs in the last two overs to keep the game alive.

Rohit-Rickelton power the chase - Chasing a daunting total, Mumbai Indians needed a blazing start and their trusted opening pair delivered in style. Rohit Sharma marked his return from injury with a sublime knock, while Rickelton continued his rich vein of form as the duo came out all guns blazing, racking up 71 in the Powerplay. They didn’t take their foot off the pedal either, constantly staying ahead of the rate with a commanding 143-run opening stand, both cruising into the 80s. However, just when it looked like a walk in the park, LSG struck back with twin breakthroughs to create a brief flutter. But SKY’s composed presence, combined with Naman Dhir’s quickfire cameo and Will Jacks' finishing touches, ensured there were no further hiccups as Mumbai sealed the chase in confident fashion.

MI snap losing streak in style - Mumbai Indians snapped their three-match losing streak in emphatic fashion, pulling off their highest-ever successful chase in IPL history.
