IPL 2026 Orange Cap: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi leapfrogs seven players to reclaim top spot

Teen sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi reclaimed the Orange Cap in sensational fashion during the high-voltage IPL 2026 clash between Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants. Chasing a daunting target of 220, the 15-year-old unleashed a breathtaking assault, smashing 93 runs to take back the lead in the tournament’s run charts.

Earlier in the evening, Mitchell Marsh had briefly overtaken him after hammering a stunning 96 for LSG in the first innings. Marsh has enjoyed a remarkable season, piling up 563 runs in 13 innings and holding the Orange Cap in 1st innings. But Sooryavanshi responded in style, lifting his tally to 579 runs and reclaiming the prestigious cap. Before the match against Lucknow Super Giants, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was in 8th position on the IPL 2026 Orange Cap leaderboard with 489 runs in 12 innings. His explosive 93-run knock against LSG added to his tally, helping him leapfrog seven players, including Heinrich Klaasen and Sai Sudharsan, to reclaim the number one spot.




What makes Sooryavanshi’s campaign even more extraordinary is the manner in which he has scored his runs. The RR youngster is striking at a staggering rate of 236.32, one of the most explosive seasons in IPL history. He has also smashed 53 sixes this season, leaving him on the verge of breaking the all-time record for most sixes in a single IPL edition which is held by Chris Gayle (59).

Adding another milestone to his unforgettable season, Sooryavanshi became the first Indian batter in IPL history to hit 50 sixes in a single campaign.
