A post-match moment involving RCB's star batter
Virat Kohli and LSG's Naman Tiwari drew attention after Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat Lucknow Super Giants by five wickets on Wednesday.
During an interaction after the match, Tiwari bent down to touch Kohli's feet, a gesture used to show respect. Kohli appeared taken aback and responded with a smile. The video has gone viral on social media.
In the match, RCB secured the win after chasing 147 in 15.1 overs. The target came on a slightly slow Chinnaswamy pitch, which was not expected before the match.
Kohli scored 49 off 34 balls and gave RCB a quick start. He hit four boundaries in an over from Prince Yadav and added 57 runs for the second wicket with Devdutt Padikkal, who scored 10.
Kohli was dismissed on 49 when he was caught by Nicholas Pooran at long-on off Avesh Khan.
RCB captain Rajat Patidar scored 27 and helped keep the chase on track as the team completed the win with ease.
Tiwari, 20, is a left-arm pacer who was signed by LSG for Rs 1 crore at the IPL mini auction last year. He was part of India’s squad in the 2024 Under-19 World Cup and took 12 wickets from six innings as the team finished runners-up. He is known to bowl at speeds close to 145 kph.
In the match against LSG, Kohli also featured as an Impact Player for the first time in his IPL career due to a knee issue. He was not part of the starting XI and did not take the field during LSG’s innings.
