Historic whitewash secured by Bangladesh - Bangladesh has scripted a monumental chapter in their cricketing history by defeating Pakistan by 78 runs to seal a flawless 2-0 series whitewash. Building on their historic, first-ever victory against Pakistan on home soil, the Tigers carried relentless hunger into the second match. They entirely outclassed the visitors across all three departments, proving that their rising dominance in Test cricket is no fluke. Next up for both Bangladesh and Pakistan, they have to get ready as Australia will be throwing a handy challenge at them. The mighty Aussies will be touring Pakistan first in the month of May and June, and then Bangladesh. Cheers for now.
Tigers triumph - Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto proudly accepts the silverware before instantly passing it over to his ecstatic teammates. The squad congregates eagerly in front of the Winners podium, their faces illuminated with pure joy as they pose for photographs with the coveted trophy in hand. The undeniable elation shared between the Bangladeshi players and their coaching staff perfectly embodies the crowning achievement of their relentless efforts, tactical brilliance, and unwavering team spirit throughout this historic series triumph.
Player of the Series Mushfiqur Rahim - Mushfiqur Rahim has been rewarded as POTS for scoring 253 key runs in the 2-match Test series. Rahim expresses deep gratitude for the accolade but humbly attributes the honor to the collective dedication of his teammates. When assessing Pakistan's spirited fourth-innings fightback, Rahim credits Litton Das as the ultimate differentiator between the sides, noting that Das's resilient first-innings rescue act completely revitalized the team's morale. Reflecting on the motivation driving his prolonged career, Rahim smiles and shares that he feels profoundly blessed to represent the national team, concluding that true happiness simply comes from being alive and having the privilege to play for his nation.
Litton Das wins the Player Of The Match - Litton Das has been adjudged POTM for his splendid contribution with the bat, where he scored 126 runs in the first innings and 69 in the second innings. Das mentions that early wickets initially hindered his approach until Najmul Hossain Shanto advised him to attack. Das backs his strengths and shifts into a traditional Test mindset after finding boundaries, knowing that occupying the crease for another 10-15 overs can dramatically alter the match outcome under looming rain threats. Addressing his decision to refuse singles with the lower order, Das clarifies that shielding the tailenders from excessive strike exposure is a protective strategy rather than a selfish act, ensuring collective safety and allowing him to pass fifty. Litton Das reckons this satisfying century as likely the finest of his career, citing a sluggish outfield, an unforgiving Day 1 surface, and the immense tactical challenge of managing deep field placements while batting with the tail.
The losing skipper of Pakistan, Shan Masood - Shan Masood mentions his team's defensive lapses, admitting that allowing Bangladesh to post 390 runs in the second innings proves their rivals simply played better cricket. While reflecting on Pakistan's overall form, Masood adds that Pakistan at time have completely outplayed the opposition in numerous past Test matches, though he accepts that results do not always go their way. Shan Masood reckons that while they could have made better tactical decisions and executed their plans more effectively, learning remains a fundamental part of the sport, and the squad is determined to grind harder to achieve better results in the future.
Time for the presentation ceremony ...
Taijul’s tactical triumph seals Bangladesh's Victory! The final morning began with high drama as Pakistan’s overnight batters counter-attacked aggressively, adding 40 quickfire runs to unnerve the hosts. Recognizing the danger, Najmul Hossain Shanto made a decisive tactical masterstroke by handing the ball to Taijul Islam. The left-arm orthodox spinner immediately turned the game on its head, halting the visitors' momentum and triggering a swift final collapse. Despite a heroic, top-scoring effort of 94 from Rizwan and resilient lower-order resistance from Sajid Khan, Taijul's brilliant spell proved insurmountable, bowling Bangladesh to a historic 78-run victory.
Rizwan and Salman fuel a Day 4 thriller - Facing an improbable chase, Pakistan mounted a spirited fightback on Day 4 behind a captain's knock of 71 from Shan Masood and a composed 47 from Babar Azam. Taijul Islam halted their momentum by dismissing both set batters, but his joy was short-lived as Pakistan's lower-middle order dug in. Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha orchestrated a magnificent 134-run partnership, shifting the pressure back onto the hosts and turning a processing victory into a genuine thriller. Taijul broke the agonizing stand by bowling Salman for 71, but Rizwan stood unbeaten on 75, leaving Pakistan trailing by 121 runs with three wickets remaining at Stumps on Day 4.
Mushfiqur’s mastery sets a mountainous target - Bangladesh capitalised on their psychological advantage, batting with supreme authority in the second innings to firmly shut out the visitors. Mushfiqur Rahim was the architect of this dominance, compiling a majestic 137 to notch his 14th Test century. He was brilliantly mirrored by Litton Das, who rode his luck through multiple lifelines to stroke a stylish 69, while Mahmudul Hasan Joy's fifty from the top-order helped to set the tone for the rest of the innings. Bangladesh set Pakistan a monumental fourth-innings target of 437 runs on a rapidly deteriorating pitch.
Pakistan crumble against Taskin and spin - Pakistan's response was marred by a top-order collapse under intense pressure on Day 2. Taskin Ahmed’s fiery new-ball spell removed both openers early, reducing the visitors to a precarious 23 for 2. Aside from a fluent, well-crafted 68 from the returning Babar Azam, the middle order capitulated completely after his dismissal by Nahid Rana. Highly regarded specialists fell in rapid succession to Bangladesh's relentless spin duo. A late, aggressive 38-run cameo from Sajid Khan pushed Pakistan past 230, but a clinical cleanup by Rana and Taijul Islam handed Bangladesh a vital 46-run first-innings lead.
Early inroads and Litton’s rescue act - Opting to bowl first on a responsive Sylhet surface, Pakistan reaped immediate rewards. Mohammad Abbas struck in the opening over, setting off a top-order collapse that left Bangladesh reeling at 116 for 6 against a disciplined seam attack. The tide turned when Litton Das took absolute control, anchoring the innings with a brilliant, counter-attacking century. His lone-warrior effort dragged the hosts to a fighting first-innings total of 278. Khurram Shahzad led Pakistan’s bowling with an impressive four-wicket haul, well-supported by Abbas, Hasan Ali, and Sajid Khan.

DRINKS! A hydration pause is called immediately following the breakthrough of Mohammad Rizwan. Pakistan's promising start to the day has completely dissolved, replicating old failures where potential fails to yield results. Both set overnight batters collapsed in a heartbeat. Bangladesh now commands the final stretch of their march toward a comprehensive series whitewash. While the final pair mathematically remains in play, chasing this deficit is nearly an impossible mountain to climb without a miraculous turnaround. Also, Mohammad Abbas is the final batter to walk out.

We are all set to start the action on Day 5! The two umpires stride out toward the center of the park. The players of Bangladesh are taking their respective positions on the field. Mohammad Rizwan has a huge task on his shoulder and on the other end, Sajid Khan will have just one job, to hold the wicket. Nahid Rana will be starting the proceedings on this final day of the Test match. The sky is gloomy, so the pacers might get a little advantage. Rana to Rizwan with two slips and a gully in place. Here we go...
UPDATE - 3.58 am GMT - Not a great news folks, but certainly not a terrible one either. It has been raining overnight in Sylhet and that is the reason why the start of the play has been delayed by 15 minutes. The groundsmen have done a tremendous job of draining the puddles from the ground. However, it's still overcast, and we do have a rain prediction, but if things are right, we will be starting the play at 4.15 am GMT. Stay tuned with us!
PITCH REPORT ON DAY 5- Athar Ali Khan is pitchside with his valuable insights. He starts off elaborating on the situation of the game, saying that Bangladesh will need three wickets to wrap up an historic win. Pakistan still has Rizwan, who has shown immense resilience. Then he adds that the pacers haven't done much damage lately, but it's Taijul Islam who was outstanding on the previous day. Continues that the pitch still looks good, but the ultimate challenge for Pakistan would be to hold the wicket on the other end.
The blueprint for victory - To seal the result in their favor, both camps must execute opposite strategies with absolute perfection. Bangladesh needs their star left-arm spinner, Taijul Islam, to exploit the fifth-day pitch wear with relentless accuracy, choking the runs and utilizing close-in fielders to squeeze out the final three batsmen. On the other hand, Rizwan must heroically shield the lower-order tailenders, farm the strike carefully, and punish any loose balls to whittle away at the remaining runs. It is a pure battle of strategic patience versus attacking pressure, and the team that controls the opening hour will claim the ultimate trophy.
The final equation - As the teams take the field, the game situation leaves all three classic Test results mathematically on the table. Pakistan are far from totally out of this contest, the formidable Mohammad Rizwan remains undefeated out in the middle, anchoring the chase with his side still needing 121 runs to secure an epic victory. However, the pendulum undeniably swings heavily toward Bangladesh, who require just 3 more wickets to wrap up the match. With Pakistan’s recognized batting order depleted, their notoriously vulnerable tail is fully exposed, meaning a few clinical breakthroughs will hand the visitors a celebrated victory.
A defiant guard - The intense atmosphere surrounding this final morning has been set up by Pakistan’s remarkably gutsy batting exhibition on the penultimate day. Staring down an astronomical fourth-innings target of 437 runs, their line-up faced crushing pressure. Instead of folding easily, a spirited middle-order fightback breathed life straight back into a contest that was rapidly slipping away. A heroic, stubborn century partnership between Salman Agha and Mohammad Rizwan frustrated the fielding side, changing a potential quick capitulation into a genuine rearguard action that kept their nation’s fighting hopes alive.
The brink of history - Welcome to the fifth and final day of this monumental second Test match, where five days of relentless drama culminate in a massive, high-stakes finale. There is an electric hum of enthusiasm in the air as Bangladesh stands right on the threshold of a historic achievement, securing a monumental series whitewash against Pakistan. Having already outclassed their opponents on Pakistani soil in 2024, the visitors are now within reach of back-to-back Test series wins, completing a spectacular home-and-away clean sweep. Every single delivery of this morning session bears the immense weight of cricket history for the Tigers.
... DAY 5, SESSION 1 ...
Into the final day - If anything, Pakistan have done themselves proud by pushing this into a fifth day. They have worked hard and their batting looked a lot more organised in the second innings compared to their first dig. But with only Mohammad Rizwan as the recognised batter out in the middle, one end stays exposed with him tasked to shepherd the tail for as long as possible. Bangladesh are just three wickets away, and they would want to wrap it up tomorrow in the first session itself. It will be a test of resilience for the tourists. Join us on Wednesday, 20th May, as the first ball of Day 5 is scheduled to be bowled at 4 am GMT. See you then!
A valiant fight in the third session - Pakistan were staring into the abyss, but Rizwan and Agha hauled them back into the contest with a brilliant 134-run partnership. Gritty when they needed to be, proactive when the opportunity arose, the two batted with real maturity. Both were well-set to carry Pakistan forward. But Bangladesh knew that one breakthrough here could bring the house down. Just when panic was about to set in the Bangladeshi camp, it was Taijul Islam who broke the back of Pakistan's lower middle order with the second new ball. He dismissed the well-set Salman Agha and fished out Hasan Ali soon after as well. The tourists slipped from 296/5 to 304/7, and Bangladesh now find themselves in the driving seat to script history.
Taijul and Nahid turn the screws on - Pakistan still had a herculean task ahead coming into the afternoon session. Babar and Masood batted nicely in the first half hour or so and kept scoring at a good clip. However, it was Taijul Islam who broke the 92-run stand for the third wicket by fishing out Babar, who looked in pristine touch. From that moment, Bangladesh wrestled back control, sending Pakistan tumbling from 133/2 to 162/5, with the well-set Masood also falling for a fine fifty. Salman Agha and Rizwan then took it upon themselves to bat out the session, weathering testing spells from Nahid Rana and Taijul to see Pakistan through to 200/5 at the break.
Babar and Masood steady Pakistan - Mehidy was in action in the morning, snaffling a stunning gully catch to end Abdullah Fazal's patient vigil before trapping Azan Awais in front with a crafty in-drifter. Pakistan were under pressure, being pushed to rebuild. But Masood and Babar came together and steadied things up pretty well. With no demons as such on the pitch, the two looked proactive, feasting on anything loose, as they peppered the fence with a string of crisp boundaries to see the session through. Nahid Rana bowled a superb spell with control and was supported by the two spinners, who bowled consistently on tight lines.
STUMPS ON DAY 4 - Well, there it is. The umpires take the reading and have come to a conclusion that the artificial light has taken over the natural light. So the conditions are not favourable enough to continue. The players walk off the field due to bad light. Nonetheless, it has been a gripping day of Test cricket overall. Bangladesh have the upper hand, but Pakistan have displayed a tough fight to stay afloat. Although they are hanging on a cliff right now, with just three wickets in hand.
