Tony de Zorzi plants his back knee into the pitch and tries to knock it through the covers, with an expansive drive, but fails to keep it along the ground. Hits it flatly to James Neesham at extra cover who takes a sharp catch to his left. From 81/1, South Africa are now 83/3.

DRINKS! It has been a better showing with the bat from the Proteas thus far. Connor Esterhuizen was brilliant with the bat till he lasted and it is now on Tony de Zorzi and the rest to continue building on this platform and keep this momentum going. New Zealand will be hoping to take a few more wickets in quick succession. Rubin Hermann is the next batter in.

Is that clean enough? A Herculean effort from the debutant Katene Clarke as he claims this one. The replay shows that Clarke has taken this cleanly and Connor has to walk back.

Ben Sears to Connor Esterhuizen, OUT! CAUGHT! Well, it needed some piece of brilliance to halt this knock from Esterhuizen. A sensational catch from Katene Clarke in the deep, which brings this 81-run stand to an end. Esterhuizen gets a back-of-a-length delivery around fourth stump and decides to go for the pull. He stands tall and gets if off the inner half of the blade on it, completely mistiming the shot. Clarke is stationed at deep backward square leg and the ball is dropping in front of him. He sprints forward, launches into a full-length dive and scoops it with both hands. The TV Umpire wants to make sure though. Replays roll in and it is deemed a clean catch with Katene's fingers cleanly underneath the ball. Great commitment from the debutant and Esterhuizen has to go.

That's the end of the Powerplay. Four double digit overs sandwiched between two quiet ones to sum up the field restrictions for both sides. Tony de Zorzi has struggled for timing, but Connor Esterhuizen is batting with fluency, and has scored the bulk in this stand. The good thing for the Proteas is that they haven't lost many wickets which is always a huge positive to build on a good score. As New Zealand look to break this partnership, Cole McConchie is called into the attack now.
