The skipper of Oman, Jatinder Singh, walks out to open the innings with the 44-year-old Aamir Kaleem. Mark Howard on air informs that Kaleem is the oldest player at this World Cup. PITCH REPORT - Former Pakistan batter, Bazid Khan, is pitchside. He notes that the temperature ranges from a high of 24 degrees to a low of 19, with humidity around 81 per cent. Mentions that there is a little breeze blowing across the ground, making it pleasant enough for the players despite the humidity. 2021 T20 World Cup winning captain for Australia, Aaron Finch, joins him, and he describes the surface as an absolute beauty for batting. He observes that there is a little bit of grass on it, but not live grass, which could mean the pitch might play slightly slower than usual. Finch adds that he does not expect too much spin to be on offer. He observes a couple of bare patches on the surface, but he does not believe they will have a major impact on the game. His advice to the top order batters is simple - if you get in, fill your boots. Bazid then asks Aaron whether the ball might stop a bit, given that the pitch has been under covers. Finch responds that he expects the ball to come onto the bat nicely, though it could be fractionally slower. He adds that it actually suits the top order batters, as it allows them to get under the ball.

It is an honour to play against Australia - The captain of Oman, Jatinder Singh, says that they were looking to bat first and believes that it is a wonderful track to bat on. Feels that this tournament has been a good learning curve for his team. Feels that they lack experience and exposure at this level, but these matches help them grow. He calls it an honour to play against Australia, admitting that they rarely get opportunities to face full member teams. He says the team is looking forward to this game. Informs that they have made four changes for this clash.

We respect the noise from back home - The skipper of Australia, Mitchell Marsh, chooses to bowl first on a fresh deck, expressing respect for the conditions. Reflecting on the team's disappointing exit from the 2026 T20 World Cup, he acknowledges that things did not go as planned but emphasises the group's determination to learn and finish the tournament with a win.
