BCCI asks Madan Lal to be CAC member

MUMBAI: The BCCI has approached former India all-rounder Madan Lal to be a member of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) which will pick a few members of the senior selection committee. The term of two of the members, chairman MSK Prasad, and Gagan Khoda has expired.
A PTI report said that former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir has been approached for the role, but this couldn't be confirmed.
"About a week back, they had asked me whether I could take up this job, and I said yes," Lal told TOI on Sunday.
However, the CAC's task isn't clear as of now. "I haven't received any guidelines from the Board. I guess that will happen when they announce the appointment of CAC," said Lal, who's been the India coach and selector in the past.
"It will be an honour to serve the BCCI again. My life is all about cricket. I follow the game and coach kids too," said the 68-year-old Delhite. By virtue of being the senior most member, Lal, a member of India's 1983 World Cup-winning Indian team, is likely to head the CAC.
The committee has to find replacements for Prasad, who was chosen from the South Zone, and Gagan Khoda, who was named as the Central representative.
Sarandeep Singh (North), Devang Gandhi (East) and Jatin Paranjpe (West) still have a year left in their respective four-year terms.
