RCB vs GT highlights IPL 2025: Jos Buttler, Mohammed Siraj shine as Gujarat Titans thump Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 8 wickets

RCB vs GT highlights, IPL 2025: England's Jos Buttler hammered an unbeaten 73 to lead Gujarat Titans to a thumping eight-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League on Wednesday.

Chasing 170 for victory, Gujarat depended on a 75-run second wicket stand between Buttler and opener Sai Sudharsan, who hit 49, to achieve the target with 13 balls to spare in Bengaluru.

Pace bowler Mohammed Siraj set up Gujarat's second successive victory with figures of 3-19 from his four overs to help restrict Bengaluru to 169-8.

It was Bengaluru's first defeat of the season after two wins as home fans left the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium disappointed.

Gujarat began their reply cautiously against a disciplined bowling attack, and seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed skipper Shubman Gill for 14 in the fifth over.

The left-handed Sudharsan hit regular boundaries, and along with Buttler, put on a quickfire stand to get the Titans' chase back on track.

Australia pace bowler Josh Hazlewood denied Sudharsan his fifty but Buttler kept calm, and partnered by impact substitute Sherfane Rutherford (30), steered the team to victory in an unbeaten stand of 63.

Buttler never allowed the pressure to mount on the visitors as he hit five fours and six sixes, including a reverse ramp that went behind the wicketkeeper in his 39-ball knock.

The England international's innings more than made up for his missed chances with the gloves, which included a dropped catch in the first over off Siraj.

West Indies left-hander Rutherford hit the winning six to cap off a dominant show in their third match of the season.

Bengaluru were invited to bat first but lost regular wickets and, despite England batter Liam Livingstone's top-score of 54, fell short.

Star batsman Virat Kohli was the first to go when left-arm quick Arshad Khan got the opener caught at long leg for seven.

Siraj soon took charge and bowled Devdutt Padikkal and then Phil Salt, who fell for 14 one ball after he hit the bowler for a six.

Veteran Indian seamer Ishant Sharma dismissed Bengaluru skipper Rajat Patidar, causing the batting team to slip to 42-4 in 6.2 overs.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Jitesh Sharma took on the attack in his 21-ball 33 with a flurry of boundaries, including one six, and put on 52 runs with Livingstone.

Left-arm spinner Sai Kishore sent back Jitesh and got Krunal Pandya caught and bowled to rein in Bengaluru.

But Livingstone stood firm and kept up the charge with five sixes -- all off Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan.

Livingstone survived reprieves, including when Rahul Tewatia dropped him on nine in the deep and then Buttler missed a stumping off Rashid.

He finally fell to Siraj before Tim David boosted the total with a late blitz as he smashed 32 off 18 balls, but the effort was not enough.

IPL Live Score, RCB vs GT: WICKET! Kohli falls!
WICKET!

Arshad Khan strikes, Virat Kohli falls for 7 runs. Arshad Khan secures a significant breakthrough by removing Virat Kohli, leaving the Chinnaswamy stadium in complete silence. Delivering a firmly pitched ball on middle stump, the delivery skids and rushes onto the batsman. Kohli attempts a pull shot with limited room to manoeuvre. Despite timing the aerial stroke, he directs it straight to Prasidh Krishna positioned at deep square leg, who completes a well-judged catch.

RCB vs GT Live Score, IPL 2025: Shubman reveals reason for Rabada's absence

Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to field first against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their IPL clash on Wednesday.

Gujarat Titans, the 2022 champions, made a single change, bringing in Arshad Khan in place of their pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada, who was unavailable due to personal reasons.

"We'll bowl first. Looks like a good wicket. We've seen that conditions don’t change much here. Our focus is on minimizing unforced errors and fine-tuning key areas. Kagiso misses out due to personal reasons, so we’ve brought Arshad Khan in," Gill said at the toss.

RCB, playing their first home game of the season, retained the same playing XI. Captain Rajat Patidar admitted he would have preferred to bowl first but remained confident in his team's balance.

"Would've bowled first as well because it's a new surface. It looks pretty hard and shouldn't change much. The way the boys are stepping up gives me a lot of confidence as a captain. We love this crowd—their support has always been incredible. Same team for us," Patidar said.

We'll bowl first.

Looks like a good wicket. We've seen the conditions don't change much. We're all about reducing our unforced errors. We'll try to finetune the areas that need it. Kagiso misses out due to personal reasons so we've got Arshad Khan back.

RCB vs GT Live Score, IPL 2025: 'We look around that dressing room and you need that trust' - Liam Livingstone
(Team is) Very confident. Great start to the tournament, two games on the road, we said about making a strong start as it helps in the later stages, hopefully we can carry it on here. It is our first chance to play in front of our home fans, everybody is really excited, we have been waiting for this day for a long while now, hopefully we can go out and put on a show. I enjoy both (batting and bowling).

I feel like I can contribute with both these days, bowling might be a little difficult at this ground than what it is away from home, excited for the challenge and hopefully I can contribute with both tonight. There hasn't been much dew when we have trained. We don't know what the pitch is going to happen, try and assess the conditions with whatever we do first, hopefully we have got the skill sets to beat these guys tonight. We have set plans for the opposition teams but you can't predict what the pitch is going to do, I think real skill is being able to assess the conditions as quickly as possible, it helps having people like Hoff (Hazlewood) with the new ball and Virat with the bat, those guys have a lot of cricket behind them and they are pretty good at assessing conditions, just passing on the message, knowing what we need whether we are batting or bowling.

It is certainly nice to have them on our team than playing against them, we have some really good experience in our squad, we have got some young talented boys, but you can't buy experience, our seam attack is experienced, which is what you need in the tournament. We look around that dressing room and you need that trust, when I look around there's certainly no holes in our team. We are really confident and like I said, really excited for tonight.

RCB vs GT Live Score, IPL 2025: 'I still think I could have won the first match for my team' - Sherfane Rutherford
First of all, I want to thank everyone for the opportunity to be playing in the IPL, it's always great to be playing in this tournament, as a team we're in a good space, we'll take 1 (win) from 2 on any day. Unfortunately for me, it hasn't been a good start, I think I could have done better, but it's a lot of learning and a lot of positives, I think I can keep learning as the days go by. It definitely did a lot for us (on the win in the last match), after the first half, we felt we were 10-15 runs short, but the bowlers adapted well on a slow surface, it's all about improving in small areas and doing better tonight. Definitely, I feel the same way on his performance). I still think I could have won the first match for my team. This is always a good wicket with a small ground (on the Chinnaswamy stadium), it's important to assess and make the adjustments. He's (on Virat Kohli) one of the greatest players, as a team, we have plans, it might not always work, but we'll have to follow the plans and hopefully he'll make a mistake.

RCB vs GT Live Score, IPL 2025: 'Game has changed from 2022 to 2025' - Prasidh Krishna
Having been forced to stay away from IPL since 2022 due to injuries, Gujarat Titans pacer Prasidh Krishna is slowly getting used to the "pace of the game" as his body gets tuned to the rigours of a fast-paced format. Prasidh returned to the league through a contract with the GT, and went for 41 runs against Punjab Kings, his first match in the tournament after three years.

However, the Karnataka man came back brilliantly against Mumbai Indians to register a spell of 4-0-18-2.

"As much as I try to tell myself that it's just another tournament, just another game, I did feel that I'm coming in after a few years, especially coming in not having played a lot of T20s in the last two years because the pace of the game has changed from 2022 to 2025,"

Prasidh said on the eve of the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The 29-year-old conceded that it's a bit of a time consuming process.

"So, it did take some time. It keeps moving forward and you have to keep up with the game. Not much has changed for me physically, as, I have thankfully been playing some cricket now and the body is letting me do what I want to do," he added.

In that context, Prasidh said he has been blessed to work with an understanding coach like Ashish Nehra at GT upon his return.

"Having played for so long and been so successful, I think it's really important for me to pick his way. The conversations have been on similar lines about the decisions that you make as a bowler, the preparation that you would go into games with.

"Handling the situations and pressure, what would you do when you're coming up against a challenge. So those are the kinds of things that he's been talking to me about," he said.

Prasidh said it was a perfect learning experience for him to work with top pacers such as Kagsio Rabada, Rashid Khan at the Titans camp.

"Yes, that's one lovely thing about the IPL. We have a lot of great bowlers in the team. We have a lot of youngsters that have a lot of potential. So, every time we get into the net session, there's so much for us to watch and learn from each other.

"And when you're together, you build a relationship where you go and speak to people, find out how they approach the game, what are they thinking, what differently do they do compared to others. So, it is great to be rubbing shoulders with such guys," he said.

Prasidh rated GT skipper Shubman Gill as an easy to work with person.

"The advantage of having somebody like Gill right there is that you can go up to him and ask him, what do you think is a better line and length to be bowling on this pitch? What would you do? So it's nice to have Gill and every other experienced player around.

"And Shubman is a guy that I've known for quite some time now. And it's really easy for any of us to approach him and get his feedback," he noted.

RCB vs GT Live Score, IPL 2025: BOWLERS' ADAPTABILITY WILL DECIDE THE MATCH
With both teams possessing quality players, the match will likely be decided by which bowling attack adapts better to the conditions. RCB fans will hope their team continues its winning momentum, especially with light showers predicted in the city.

RCB vs GT Live Score, IPL 2025: KOHLI-SALT PARTNERSHIP A KEY FACTOR
RCB’s opening pair of Kohli and Salt has shown promise, stitching together partnerships of 95 and 45 in their last two matches.

Their ability to dominate the powerplay makes them a major threat, particularly on a high-scoring ground like Chinnaswamy.

For Gujarat, breaking this partnership early will be crucial. Rabada has enjoyed success against Kohli in T20s, dismissing him four times in 14 innings while restricting his strike rate to 113.

If he can remove Kohli early, GT will gain a significant advantage.

RCB vs GT Live Score, IPL 2025: GT’S SPIN STRENGTH AND FAST BOWLING DUO
In contrast, Gujarat boast a strong spin attack featuring Rashid Khan and R Sai Kishore, who will look to trouble RCB’s batting core, which includes Virat Kohli, Phil Salt, captain Rajat Patidar, and Devdutt Padikkal.

Patidar, in particular, is known for his ability to handle spin well, making this a key battle in the game.

GT’s pace department also has firepower in Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj, who moved to GT from RCB in the last auction.

They will aim to strike early to expose RCB’s middle order, ensuring Rashid and Sai Kishore can bowl with attacking fields.

RCB vs GT Live Score, IPL 2025: KEY BATTLE - RCB’S PACERS VS GUJARAT’S TOP ORDER
RCB’s biggest challenge will be countering GT’s in-form openers, captain Shubman Gill and B. Sai Sudharsan.

Hazlewood’s ability to hit hard lengths and extract bounce, coupled with Bhuvneshwar’s control and swing, makes them a potent threat in the powerplay.

Left-arm pacer Yash Dayal has also emerged as a reliable third seamer, complementing the experienced duo.

However, RCB’s spin attack—led by Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma—remains a potential weak link, and they will be tested against Gujarat’s well-rounded batting order.

RCB vs GT Live Score, IPL 2025: BATTING-FRIENDLY CONDITIONS AT CHINNASWAMY
The pitch at the Chinnaswamy Stadium has historically favored batters, with three 260-plus totals already recorded this season. Short boundaries and a lightning-fast outfield add to the bowlers' woes, making it a venue where containment becomes a challenge.

Despite the conditions, RCB will rely on their experienced pace duo—Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar—to restrict Gujarat’s powerful batting lineup.

While they haven’t set the wickets column on fire, Hazlewood has been exceptionally economical, conceding just 5.37 runs per over, while Bhuvneshwar, who returned to action against CSK, has maintained an economy of 6.6.

RCB vs GT Live Score, IPL 2025: Hello and welcome!
Hello and welcome to the Live coverage of IPL 2025 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will look to make their return to home turf a memorable one when they take on Gujarat Titans (GT) in an IPL clash on Wednesday.
