PUNE: Former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher who hung up his boots last year feels that there should be no restriction on the number of foreign player in an EPL club.
"I think with the rules governing football in Europe, you can't introduce a quota for foreign players. And I think the balance of 50 per cent English and 50 per cent of the best foreign players in the EPL is which makes the league so special and also the biggest league in the world."
The ace defender on Tuesday inaugurated the Liverpool Football Academy-DSK Shivajians in Pune.
It was also his first official representation of the Club since his retirement in 2013.
The day was apt as Liverpool completed 119 years of its existence. The 36-year-old's career of 17 years saw him make 737 appearances for Liverpool where he was vice-captain for 10 years.
