Lionel Messi has said he regrets not learning English during his long football career. He shared his journey from training at La Masia in Spain to becoming a global star and now playing for Inter Miami CF.He admitted that he had enough time to study the language but never did, and now he feels he should have.

“I regret many things. Not having learned English as a boy. I had the time to have at least studied English and I didn’t do it. I deeply regret it," Messi said.“I experienced situations where I was with incredible and spectacular personalities to be able to talk and have a chat and you feel half ignorant. I always thought: ‘What an idiot, how I wasted my time," Messi added.Messi shared this during a Mexican podcast interview. He is now preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after finishing a strong season with Inter Miami.Messi also spoke about his early days in Spain, where he studied in Catalonia while training at La Masia with other young players.Messi is currently living in the United States and plays for Inter Miami CF in Major League Soccer. He moved to the club in 2023 and has helped raise the team’s profile around the world.
