Thomas Tuchel’s England FIFA World Cup squad numbers get leaked online just days ahead of tournament opener
England’s squad numbers for the upcoming FIFA World Cup appear to have been revealed ahead of the team’s opening match. A document circulating online has listed the jersey numbers for all 26 players selected by head coach Thomas Tuchel. If the leak is accurate, fans already have a strong indication of how England could line up when they begin their campaign against Croatia on June 17.
The leaked list includes several expected choices as well as a few interesting selections. Jordan Pickford is set to continue as England’s first-choice goalkeeper with the No. 1 shirt. Harry Kane keeps the famous No. 9 jersey, while Jude Bellingham has been handed the No. 10 shirt. The squad numbers also offer clues about Tuchel’s preferred starting lineup and the roles certain players could play during the tournament.
The squad list suggests that Thomas Tuchel may already have a clear idea of his strongest team. Ezri Konsa has been given the No. 2 shirt, a number often worn by right-backs. Although Konsa is naturally a central defender, he has experience playing on the right side of defence for both club and country.
Nico O’Reilly has received the No. 3 shirt, while Declan Rice takes No. 4. John Stones and Marc Guehi appear to be the preferred central defensive partnership with the No. 5 and No. 6 shirts respectively. Dan Burn has been assigned No. 15.
Further forward, Bukayo Saka continues with the No. 7 jersey. Elliot Anderson has been given No. 8, indicating he could have an important midfield role. Kane leads the attack with No. 9, while Bellingham wears No. 10. Marcus Rashford has secured the No. 11 shirt, ahead of Anthony Gordon, who has been assigned No. 18.
Among the substitutes, Tino Livramento wears No. 12 and Jordan Henderson No. 14. Kobbie Mainoo has been handed No. 16 following an impressive season. Morgan Rogers takes No. 17, while Ollie Watkins will wear No. 19.
Noni Madueke keeps No. 20 and Eberechi Eze has No. 21. Ivan Toney, making a surprise return to the squad, has received No. 22. Goalkeeper Dean Henderson takes No. 13, while James Trafford wears No. 23.
One of the more notable selections is Reece James with No. 24. Keeping his familiar club number may suggest he remains in contention for a starting role. Djed Spence has been assigned No. 25, while Jarell Quansah completes the squad with No. 26.
Although England have not officially confirmed the numbers, the leaked list has already generated excitement and discussion among supporters ahead of the FIFA World Cup.
