Brisbane Broncos fullback Reece Walsh left his followers stunned on Sunday after posting a bizarre Snapchat video from his home. The 23-year-old footy star was seen crouching next to his toilet, scooping water from the bowl with his hand, and drinking it. In the clip, Walsh told his fans that it was a “new recovery method” for sore muscles. The video quickly spread online and raised alarm, but the Broncos later explained that it was only meant as a joke and not to be taken seriously.
Reece Walsh posts strange toilet video on Snapchat
The unusual clip was filmed inside Walsh’s home in Brisbane, where he is currently completing renovations. In the video, posted on Sunday, August 31, Reece Walsh leaned over a brand-new toilet, dipped his hand in the water, and took a sip. He then told fans
, “They reckon there is a new form of recovery, to recover the muscles. You just… toilet water. You just get a little drink.”Soon after, the Broncos confirmed the toilet had never been used and that Reece Walsh had recently installed it in his new bathroom.
The club made it clear the act was staged for humor, not for health advice. A team spokesperson said, “The video represents a poor attempt at humour posted privately by Walsh. No one should take this video seriously or act upon the advice.”
The video was later deleted from his account, but not before it drew reactions across the league. Former New South Wales coach Brad Fittler said on 2GB radio,
“He’s taking the p**, isn’t he? Seriously?”* Broadcaster Adam Hawse also weighed in, saying the club should simply “get Reece off social media.”
Reece Walsh faces backlash for social media antics
This is not the first time Reece Walsh has been at the center of controversy online. Back in May 2025, he shared a TikTok video where he was seen wearing boxing gloves and punching a close friend in the head.
Though both insisted it was a joke, the clip angered the Broncos’ management, who said privately they were furious. Walsh later apologized and explained
, “Just to add context… it was a joke with me best mate. No one was harmed, boys being boys.”He also admitted he went “too far” and promised to make better choices on social media. To show his regret, Walsh donated money to the Black Dog Institute, a mental health charity partnered with the Broncos.
