Iga Swiatek’s coaching situation has quickly become one of the biggest talking points in tennis. On March 23, 2026, the former World No. 1 confirmed that she had ended her partnership with Wim Fissette after a run of disappointing results. The news surprised many fans, especially because the pair had earlier found strong success together on the tour.
Soon after the split, rumors started spreading that Piotr Wozniacki, father of former World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki, could step in as Swiatek’s next coach. The talk picked up fast across tennis circles. But now, Piotr himself has come forward and made his position very clear, putting an end to all the speculation.
Caroline Wozniacki’s father Piotr Wozniacki denies Iga Swiatek coaching role and suggests Dawid Celt
Speaking to Interia Sport, Piotr Wozniacki directly addressed the rumors and left no room for confusion. He said, “I definitely won’t be Iga Świątek’s new coach. Someone passed this by. No one talked to me. And even if they did, I’d finished my coaching career.”
He also shared why he does not want to return to coaching, even though he has received offers in the past. Piotr explained, “Honestly, after Karolina ended her career, I received very good offers, but now is not the right time.
I have a wonderful family, grandchildren, granddaughters, and so on, and I know how much it costs. And I know how much energy, time, and true dedication it takes.”
He added that his experience has taught him a lot, but he has already made his decision. “Of course, I also realize that people now want someone who is wiser about the mistakes they made, like I did with my daughter. And after all this experience, I know which direction to go, but that’s a done deal. Absolutely nothing can make me change my mind.”
While ruling himself out, Piotr did offer a suggestion for Swiatek’s team. In the same interview with Interia Sport, he said, “If Iga Swiatek’s team, or Iga herself, hasn’t yet made a decision regarding Wim Fissette’s successor, I’m speaking out and I know what I’m talking about. Dawid Celt should be considered.”
Dawid Celt is well known in Polish tennis. He worked as a hitting partner for Agnieszka Radwanska during her career and is currently the captain of Poland’s Billie Jean King Cup team. His name now adds another option as Swiatek looks ahead after a sudden coaching change.
