Jake Paul threatens legal action after Deontay Wilder claims Anthony Joshua fight is “scripted”
Jake Paul has strongly pushed back against accusations of fight-fixing ahead of his heavyweight clash with Anthony Joshua. The YouTuber-turned-boxer responded angrily after former world champion Deontay Wilder suggested the bout could be scripted. Paul is set to face Joshua this weekend at the Kaseya Center in Miami. With a big gap in size, experience, and achievements, most fans believe Joshua will win comfortably.
Wilder’s comments quickly caught attention online. The former WBC champion questioned the legitimacy of the fight during a recent interview. His words added more controversy to a matchup that is already under heavy scrutiny. Paul did not take the claims lightly. He addressed the issue publicly and made it clear that he is ready to take legal action to protect his name.
In a recent interview, Deontay Wilder openly questioned the fight. He said, “You know, for me, in my opinion, I think it’s scripted a little bit because of the weight difference, and Joshua’s a former champion and also he’s current, he’s active. This is going to be the first time that we see Paul fighting an active fighter… I think it’s scripted. At the end of the day, I just want everybody to have fun. I want them to enjoy themselves because we risk our lives for others’ entertainment.”
Jake Paul responded during a press conference and did not hold back. He revealed that legal steps have already been taken. Paul said, “I gave him a cease-and-desist letter in the email for lying on my name. The lawsuit is coming right after because these people won’t stop lying. I honestly take it as a compliment, but people need to shut the fk up. Deontay Wilder’s been hit a lot by Tyson Fury, so he’s clearly not the smartest guy… There’s nothing in the contract, ‘AJ’ can attest to it.”
Paul also spoke about the mental side of the fight. He believes Anthony Joshua will feel more pressure when the bell rings. During a face-to-face interaction, Paul said, “It’s funny because the pressure is on you. When I win the first round and the second round, I think it’s you who starts to crumble because all the pressure is on you. I’m fighting free. There’s no weight on my shoulders. I don’t have to prove anything. You have so much to prove… I already took over this whole game… I think it’s gonna be you that’s gonna be, like, ’Oh, fk, one round, two rounds, three rounds.’ I believe you’re ready.”
As of now, Paul remains confident, while Joshua is also ready to fight back. All eyes will now be on Miami on December 19.
