Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts warned Grammy-winning singer Usher against feeding his wife 'cherries'

The Usher magic is not one that can be escaped easily, and that has a lot of husbands a little worried, even if you are an outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Recently, R&B singer Usher stopped by for a chat with talk show host Stephen Colbert, where he revealed an instance when Mookie Betts of the Dodgers came up to him and warned him against feeding his wife, Brianna Hammonds, cherries.

What did Mookie Betts say to Usher?

During a recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Usher was asked if any angry boyfriends or husbands came up to him about feeding their significant other cherries during his concert. As Colbert said:

"Have you ever heard from any angry husbands or boyfriends? Because you are not feeding my wife cherries."


Usher was not one to mince words and said there had been a few incidents, including the one with Betts.

"There have been a couple of people who are very clear that they didn't want me to feed cherries. Mookie Betts of the L.A. Dodgers, he comes over to me, he's like, 'No serenade. Leave the cherries at home. No cherries.'"

Looks like Betts was not taking any chances with Usher trying to feed his wife, who was his high school sweetheart before they got married, and directly warned the singer against it.

What is it with Usher and cherries?

The cherry things with Usher started during his Las Vegas Residency. During his concerts, when he walks around the arena, Usher feeds a few lucky ladies some cherries. This has now become a whole different reason for some people to attend the concert since this whole thing began. During an interview on The Jennifer Hudson Show, he revealed, "It started with strawberries in Vegas."


Since then, it has become a prominent part of Usher's live shows, where many women wait to be the chosen one - as Usher feeds them cherries with his own hands. Sorry though, Brianna, looks like you had to miss your chance. Another athlete, from another league - that is WNBA star Angel Reese, though, took full advantage of being at an Usher concert, when she became one of the ladies to be fed cherries by Usher.
