“His hand-eye coordination is on point”: Amir Khan reveals his favorite ahead of Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford

Amir Khan, the only boxer to face both Canelo Álvarez and Terence Crawford, predicts Crawford will win their potential super-middleweight title fight. Khan acknowledges Canelo's power but emphasizes Crawford's superior hand-eye coordination and timing. As Canelo Álvarez prepares to take on Terence Crawford in an electrifying super-middleweight title rematch, former world champion Amir Khan, the only man to have faced both, has weighed in with a decisive prediction on who he thinks will win the fight. Speaking about his prediction, Khan said, “Canelo hits harder and is not as slow as people think he is. He’s very fast when he puts his combinations together and has decent footwork as well, with very good head movement. But when it comes to Crawford, his hand-eye coordination is just on point, bro. His timing is everything, and that’s something that would never leave you.”What makes Khan’s comments particularly interesting, however, is that he has been in the ring with both fighters. Few, if any, can claim the perspective that he does, having felt both Canelo Álvarez at his most powerful and Terence Crawford at his most precise. “I could hit Canelo anytime I wanted, it felt like it was easy to hit him. But with Crawford, I couldn’t do that. Even though I had speed on my side, he’d make me miss and catch me over the top. It was amazing,” Khan added. Now, it showcases why so many boxing fans want this fight with even more seasoning.

Amir Khan shares his unique insight into Canelo Álvarez and Terence Crawford

Having fought both in the ring himself, Amir Khan gives an in-depth review of the upcoming fight between Canelo Álvarez and Terence Crawford. Canelo Álvarez hits harder than Terence Crawford; that's a given, but Khan feels Crawford is a much more difficult fighter to compete against from a technical standpoint.

He noted that Crawford has elite hand-eye coordination and timing. Crawford was naturally a challenge, but Khan also noted the champion's redundancy, being able to switch from southpaw to orthodox and vice versa.

Key factors influencing the fight outcome

Several factors contribute to Khan's prediction. Despite Canelo Álvarez's experience and knockout power, Khan suggests that the Mexican superstar may have become more cautious after a long career at the top. “Canelo is more of a careful fighter now. He’s done what he needed to make his name, so he’s more laidback, but he can’t be laidback against Crawford because Crawford comes to fight,” Khan said. On the other hand, while Terence Crawford ascended two weight classes and hadn't fought for more than a year, he has continued to be very disciplined and in excellent shape. Khan gives the advantage to Crawford, but not because the Omaha star is the better man; he believes Crawford's freshness, combined with his skill and his workman-like preparation, tips the scales in his favor, a 60-40 split right down the middle, favoring Crawford.
