NEW DELHI: The Delhi high court on Wednesday directed late industrialist Sunjay Kapur’s wife, Priya Kapur, to submit a complete list of his assets as on June 12, 2025 — the date of his death — while hearing a suit filed by his children with Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor. The children, Samaira and Kiaan, have sought a share in their father’s personal estate, alleging exclusion from his will. Appearing for Priya, senior advocate Rajiv Nayyar hit back at the children’s claim, telling the court, “After getting Rs 1,900 crore worth of assets just five days before filing this suit, you suddenly claim you haven’t got anything.”SEE ALSO: Legal battle over Sunjay Kapur's Rs 30,000 crore property: Delhi HC asks Priya Kapur to disclose all movable, immovable assets Nayyar stressed that Priya, as Sunjay’s widow with a six-year-old child, was now being unfairly targeted. “I am the last wife. There were acrimonious divorce proceedings between Sunjay and Karisma, ending in the Supreme Court. At the age of 50, a man dies. I am a widow and have a six-year-old child. Where were you all this while? You were nowhere to be seen for the last 15 years,” he said. Justice Jyoti Singh issued notice on the plea and posted the matter after three weeks, asking Priya to file details of all movable and immovable assets known to her.
Appearing for the children, senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani questioned why they had been completely excluded. “Sunjay Kapur was meticulous. The most suspicious aspect of this will is the exclusion of the children,” he argued, seeking an interim freeze on the assets. Adding to the family rift, Sunjay’s mother Rani Kapur also opposed the will, saying she too had been left out. “I have got nothing. I am a Class 1 legatee and now my son leaves me on the road,” she told the court. The matter will be heard again after three weeks for consideration of interim relief.
