Nathan Aspinall is being very honest about what happened after his big win in Munich. He said he drank “a lot of beers” to celebrate lifting the German Darts Grand Prix title. Even after that long night, he still caught his flight home. But he admitted it was not easy at all. The world No.14 said the journey felt “vile” as he dealt with a slight hangover. What stands out is how quickly he bounced back. Just days later, Aspinall returned to the stage and played some of his best darts. He beat James Wade 6-3 at the European Darts Grand Prix. His performance was sharp, with a strong 106.20 average and a stunning 150 checkout. It showed that even after a tough trip home, his form is still there.
Nathan Aspinall opens up on hangover, Munich win, and strong return against James Wade
Speaking to DartsNews, Nathan Aspinall did not hide anything about his celebration. He said, “I had more than a few beers. I had a lot of beers! But I made my flight. I made it… it was a vile flight, it wasn’t good, but I made it.”
That moment says a lot about his mindset right now. He is enjoying his wins, but he is also finding a way to stay focused when it matters.
After Munich, Aspinall made a smart choice. He skipped the Players Championship Nine and Ten events in Wigan. Instead of playing more matches, he decided to rest and keep his energy for the European Tour. It looks like that decision helped him.
He explained it clearly. “I just love the European Tour, I feel at home on that stage,” he said. “Whenever I walk out on the European Tour, last year I had a lot of success on it, and this year I won two weeks ago when I wasn’t in the best of form.”
There is a clear pattern here. He trusts this stage, and it shows in how he plays. That comfort is helping him deliver strong results again.
Aspinall also made a small but interesting change in Munich. He walked out to “Lose Yourself” by Eminem instead of his usual song. Fans noticed it right away. When asked if he will keep it, he kept things open. “We’ll see if we get to Sunday night,” he said.
Now, his focus is on the next match. He is set to face Ross Smith at the Glaspalast arena. A win will take him into the semi-finals. With the way he is playing, he looks ready for another deep run.
