The UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov and football icon Zlatan Ibrahimovic recently faced off in a friendly arm-wrestling contest. The light-hearted showdown took place at a private gathering in Europe.
The contest ended in a draw, perfectly matching the idea of an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object. The moment became even more popular after Ibrahimovic shared a photo from the encounter on Instagram. Nurmagomedov was quick to respond with a witty comment, adding humor to an already memorable interaction between the two champions.
Khabib Nurmagomedov and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s online banter goes viral after an arm-wrestling battle
A video shared online on Christmas Eve showed Khabib Nurmagomedov and Zlatan Ibrahimovic arm-wrestling while surrounded by friends. Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba acted as the referee. Despite their best efforts, neither man managed to gain an advantage. After several seconds of intense effort, Khabib chose to stop the contest, and both agreed to call it a draw.
During the clip, Nurmagomedov could be heard jokingly asking the much taller Ibrahimovic to admit what he was feeling at that moment. Ibrahimovic calmly replied that he felt pure spirit, showing his relaxed attitude toward the contest.
Later, Ibrahimovic posted a photo on Instagram featuring himself, Pogba, and Nurmagomedov. He humorously captioned it by referring to the trio as “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.” Nurmagomedov responded in the comments, disagreeing with the label and joking that there was no chance he belonged in the “ugly” category. The playful back-and-forth delighted fans.
Both stars share a deep appreciation for each other’s sports. Ibrahimovic is a lifelong combat sports fan and holds a black belt in taekwondo. Nurmagomedov, is an ardent football fan and a known supporter of Real Madrid.
That bond was also clear in 2020, before Nurmagomedov’s final UFC fight against Justin Gaethje. Ahead of the bout, Ibrahimovic sent him an emotional voice message. He reminded Nurmagomedov that success starts in the mind and said that belief, hard work, and confidence separate champions from the rest.
He told him that critics always appear when someone is number one, but hard work always proves the truth. He added that Khabib’s success came from effort, not luck, and said he would continue to support him.
Nurmagomedov went on to win the fight and retire undefeated.
