Lindsey Vonn, Mikaela Shiffrin and Chloe Kim are among the big names on the United States Olympic Team announced for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. The U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee made the squad of 232 athletes official on January 26, 2026, saying this group will compete in the Games that start with events on February 4 and the opening ceremony on February 6.
This roster is historic for many reasons. It has 117 men and 115 women, ranging from 15-year-old freeskier Abby Winterberger to 54-year-old curler Rich Ruohonen. Seven U.S. athletes are headed to their fifth Olympic Games, including legendary skier Lindsey Vonn and hockey star Hilary Knight.

Lindsey Vonn, at 41, is one of the most talked-about athletes on the roster. She is making her fifth Olympic appearance and is back in alpine skiing after coming out of retirement.
Lindsey Vonn has won one gold and two bronze medals in past Games and is one of the oldest competitors on the U.S. team.
Mikaela Shiffrin, a star alpine skier with multiple World Cup titles, is also on the team. She has two Olympic gold medals and is one of the strongest skiers in the world right now.
Chloe Kim, the snowboarder known for her halfpipe success, has two gold medals and will compete again in Italy.
Bobsledders Kaillie Humphries and Elana Meyers Taylor will also be at their fifth Games, as will figure skater Evan Bates, snowboarders Faye Thelen and Nick Baumgartner, and ice hockey player Hilary Knight.
Meyers Taylor leads the returning medalists with five Olympic medals, while Humphries has three gold medals from past Olympics.
Many rising stars are on the roster too. Jessie Diggins (cross-country skiing), Red Gerard (snowboard), Jordan Stolz (speed skating) and Nick Goepper (freeski) add fresh energy to the team.
The United States will compete in sports across the Olympic schedule, from alpine skiing and figure skating to ice hockey and snowboarding.
Hilary Knight, captain of the U.S. women’s ice hockey team, is set for her fifth Olympic Games, a rare achievement in the sport.
Knight said this year’s selection feels special because she has “grown up in this program and learned so much from every moment,” showing how much the Olympics mean to her and her teammates.
The youngest on the team, Abby Winterberger, will make her Olympic debut at 15 years old. She brings youth and excitement to the U.S. squad, which also includes many veterans.
Rich Ruohonen, the 54-year-old curler, will be one of the oldest competitors at the Games. The 2026 Winter Olympics will be different from past ones because events are held across Milan, Cortina d’Ampezzo and the nearby mountains.
NBC and Peacock will show the competitions live in the United States. Fans can expect thrilling races and intense team competitions from February 4 until the closing on February 22, 2026.
