South Australia’s Victims’ Rights Commissioner, Sarah Quick, strongly condemned the post. She suggested that the statement reflected a troubling lack of understanding about the emotional and long-term impact of the incident. According to her, the post could be seen as disrespectful not only to Melissa Hoskins but also to her grieving family, who continue to deal with the aftermath of the tragedy.

Dennis is still banned from driving. Later he shared additional posts referring to his children in similar terms and criticized the media for reaching out to him. These actions further fueled the controversy, with many questioning his public conduct.

The tragic incident occurred in 2023. It happened outside the couple’s home in Adelaide. During an argument, Dennis attempted to leave in his car. Hoskins climbed onto the vehicle and held onto it as he drove. She later fell and was struck, suffering fatal injuries.

Although the court accepted that Dennis tried to walk away from the argument, the judge ruled that continuing to drive while she was on the car showed disregard for her safety. He later pleaded guilty to a lesser charge and received a suspended sentence.
