Advertisers now focus more on engagement and authentic reach rather than inflated follower numbers. Ronaldo still remains the most influential sports personality online. He reportedly earns millions for sponsored posts and brand partnerships.

The cleanup also impacted other famous personalities worldwide. Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli reportedly lost nearly two million followers, while Kylie Jenner and several global celebrities also saw huge drops. Meta has described the exercise as a routine effort to improve transparency and ensure brands receive accurate engagement data from creators.

Former Sport Lobster executive Harry Hugo earlier explained how Ronaldo’s social media value has grown massively over the years. He said their company once secured a digital partnership with Ronaldo for £250,000, which included dozens of promotional posts. Hugo added that Ronaldo’s online influence generated thousands of downloads every time he promoted content, and today his social media posts are worth millions because of his unmatched global reach.
