Ketel Marte is once again at the center of Major League Baseball trade talk. The Arizona Diamondbacks star infielder has become one of the most discussed names this winter. The Diamondbacks have not said they want to trade him. But general manager Mike Hazen has admitted that rival teams keep reaching out. With spring training getting closer, the front office is now listening closely as interest around Ketel Marte continues to grow.

Ketel Marte draws heavy trade interest as Mike Hazen fields calls

Ketel Marte has been one of baseball’s most steady hitters for years. He is a three-time All-Star and a two-time Silver Slugger winner. Since 2018, he has stayed among the league’s most reliable infield bats.

Over the past three seasons, Ketel Marte has hit .283 with strong power and on-base numbers. He is also a switch-hitter, which adds to his value. At 32, he remains a key part of Arizona’s lineup and clubhouse.

Ketel Marte is also under a long contract. He is owed about $102.5 million over the next six seasons.

He is set to make $15 million in 2026, $12 million in 2027, $20 million in 2028, and $22 million in both 2029 and 2030. The final year includes a player option.

Because of that deal and his production, Arizona is not rushing. Steve Adams reported that Mike Hazen has been “hammered by calls” from teams trying to trade for Ketel Marte.



Mike Hazen has said he is listening, but he has also repeated that moving Ketel Marte is not something the club wants to do.

Last week, Mike Hazen said he hopes to settle the situation soon. Many around the league saw that as a sign that Arizona Diamondbacks may be asking teams for their best offers.

According to MLB Trade Rumors, the Arizona Diamondbacks are focused on one thing if they even consider a deal. They want multiple major league–ready starting pitchers. The team is looking for controllable arms who can help their rotation for years.

Steve Adams reported that Arizona already spoke with the Tampa Bay Rays about a possible package that once included Ryan Pepiot and Shane Baz.

That idea ended when Shane Baz was later traded to the Baltimore Orioles.

That type of discussion shows what Arizona is looking for, young starting pitching that can step in right away.

Around the league, teams in win-now mode are seen as the best fits. Chicago Clubs with deep farm systems and extra starters make the most sense.

Front offices know that landing Ketel Marte would mean paying a high price. For now, Ketel Marte remains with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

But with calls increasing, talks active, and the team signaling a decision may come soon, his name is expected to stay at the front of the MLB trade rumor world.
