Andrew Tate’s Misfits Boxing Qatar event in jeopardy amid Middle East regional crisis, Mams Taylor doesn't want to “bombard people in fear”
The ongoing conflict in the Middle East is beginning to affect international sports events. Misfits Boxing is now facing uncertainty over its planned event in Qatar later this year. The crossover boxing promotion had scheduled a show in the country for late April. However, the regional situation has raised serious concerns about safety. Organizers are now carefully reviewing their plans as the crisis enters its second week.
The sports world has increasingly felt the impact of geopolitical tensions in the region. Misfits Boxing had previously staged a successful event at Lusail Sports Arena in Qatar five years ago. This time, the promotion hoped to return with another high-profile show. But with the current instability and safety concerns, officials are considering whether it would be appropriate to move forward with the event as planned.
Misfits Boxing is set to begin its 2026 schedule with MF & DAZN: X Series 22 Duel 2: Mitchell vs. Rosado. The crossover boxing event will take place at Vaillant Live in Derby. It will mark the start of a busy calendar for the promotion. Two additional events featuring professional boxing matches are scheduled for March 20 and April 4.
The April 4 show is expected to feature a major heavyweight clash between former world champion Deontay Wilder and British contender Derek Chisora. After these fights, the promotion had planned to move its next event to Qatar in late April. However, the current situation in the Middle East has placed those plans in doubt.
Misfits co-founder Mams Taylor said organizers are closely watching developments before making any decisions. He explained that the company wants to be respectful during such a difficult time. According to him, the last thing they want is to push ahead with an entertainment event while people in the region are dealing with fear and uncertainty.
Taylor added that the team understands that plans sometimes change due to situations beyond anyone’s control. He said they will continue monitoring the situation and decide later whether the event can still take place.
Reports had also suggested that Tommy Fury could return to the ring on an upcoming Misfits card. The promotion had explored the possibility of placing Fury in the Derby event.
The conflict is also affecting other sports across the region. Several athletes have reportedly faced travel problems. Motorsport could also face disruption. Upcoming races in the Formula One calendar, including the Bahrain Grand Prix and the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, are under review.
