For months, fans have been buzzing about Aaron Pico’s long-anticipated move to the UFC. Once touted as “the greatest prospect in the history of MMA” by former Bellator boss Scott Coker, Pico looked set to make a statement right away. According to Red Corner MMA, his debut was reportedly being lined up for UFC Vegas 106 on May 17 against none other than undefeated featherweight contender Movsar Evloev. It was shaping up to be a banger. But as it turns out, the UFC’s plans may have hit a snag.
Aaron Pico’s UFC debut delayed as Movsar Evloev targets title shot instead
UFC president
Dana White had been clear about one thing following UFC 311: Pico is a hot commodity. When asked about signing Bellator stars Patricio Pitbull and Aaron Pico, White was unsure about Pitbull but didn’t hesitate on Pico, stating the UFC was “definitely interested.”
At 28 years old, Pico has matured into a well-rounded powerhouse with a 13-4 record and 11 finishes. That kind of résumé doesn't come around often—and it’s why the UFC was reportedly eyeing a blockbuster debut against Movsar Evloev, the 19-0 Russian machine who’s gone 9-0 in the UFC.
But now? Evloev’s camp seems to be backing off.
According to Red Fury MMA, Evloev has decided to pump the brakes on the Pico fight. Why? He wants to wait for the outcome of the UFC 314 featherweight title bout between Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes before committing to his next move.
And he’s not begging for anything.
“I don’t care, honestly. If he’s thinking that I don’t deserve [to fight] for the title, just give me another fight,” Evloev said after beating Aljamain Sterling at UFC 310. “I will keep winning even like 100 and 0. Then maybe they will think about title shot for me.”

Either way, Aaron Pico’s UFC arrival is coming. It’s just not going to be the explosive debut against Movsar Evloev that fans were hoping for—at least not yet.
