Floyd Mayweather announces another exhibition fixture before Manny Pacquiao rematch, gears up for three blockbuster fights in 2026

Floyd Mayweather has confirmed that he will fight three times in 2026, including a blockbuster rematch with Manny Pacquiao in September. The undefeated American boxing legend will first compete in two exhibition bouts before returning to professional boxing. His busy schedule has surprised many fans. It also comes despite warnings from Hall of Famer Andre Ward about the risks of making a full professional comeback at this stage of his career.

Mayweather, 49, announced he will face Pacquiao on September 19 in Las Vegas, 11 years after beating him in their historic first fight. Before that, he is set to meet Mike Tyson in April and Mike Zambidis in June. The former five-division world champion remains confident. However, some experts believe returning to sanctioned fights could put his unbeaten 50-0 record in danger.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is preparing for a packed year inside the ring. The boxing great will first take part in an exhibition bout against Mike Tyson on April 25. Reports suggest the fight could take place in DR Congo, the country that famously hosted the historic 1974 “Rumble in the Jungle.” Tyson, now 59, returned to action in 2024 but was beaten over eight rounds by Jake Paul.

Mayweather will then travel to Greece for a June exhibition against Mike Zambidis in Athens. Zambidis is an 18-time world champion in kickboxing. He retired in 2015 before briefly returning to boxing in 2019, where he won his comeback bout.

The biggest fight of Mayweather’s year will come on September 19 when he faces Manny Pacquiao in a professional rematch at Sphere in Las Vegas. Their first meeting in 2015 was one of the most watched fights in boxing history. Mayweather won that bout by decision.

However, former world champion Andre Ward has shared concerns about Mayweather’s return to sanctioned competition. As reported by The Sun, he explained that while he does not mind seeing Mayweather fight Pacquiao again, he feels uneasy if Mayweather begins campaigning seriously as a professional boxer. He said he would not like to see Mayweather lose to an unfamiliar opponent or a younger fighter. Ward added that today’s young fighters are not intimidated by Mayweather’s legacy. They want to defeat him and be remembered as the man who handed him his first loss. According to Ward, nothing in their careers would be bigger than ending Mayweather’s unbeaten record.
