Telangana rowers reached three finals but managed just one silver in the men's coxless fours event in the 34th National Rowing Championship at the Hussain Sagar Lake on Thursday.

HYDERABAD: Telangana rowers reached three finals but managed just one silver in the men's coxless fours event in the 34th National Rowing Championship at the Hussain Sagar Lake on Thursday.
All India Police (AIP), who emerged as the best team bagging three gold and one silver, were just 1.48 seconds ahead of the hosts to claim the top spot in coxless four while Kerala completed the podium.

Mahesh Reddy, Erva Sathish and Sai Raju and T Sunil represented Telangana team, while AIP comprised Lachhman Singh, Sushil Kumar, Robin Mangar and Rohit Kumar.
Policemen also picked up gold in light weight double scull and light weight coxless four. In double scull, AIP's Manohar Lal and Immanuval David Singh rowed to glory in 7:04.96 just ahead of Punjab's Gurmeet Singh and Ranjeet Singh, who finished in 7:05.66. Kerala's Vishnu Prasad and Arjun Panicker claimed bronze.
AIP's third gold came in light weight coxless four as Dharmendra Choudhary, Nitesh Kumar Lall, Ravinderjit Singh and Jagsir Singh crossed the winning mark in 6:33.22 ahead of Chandigarh and Madhya Pradesh.
Meanwhile, Punjab and Odisha shared the honours in the women's section winning two gold each. Punjab's Navneet Kaur was the best rower of the finals clinching two gold medals. She dominated the single scull with a timing of 8:26.83, well ahead of second placed Pooja (8:34.66) of Chandigarh.
Navneet also annexed the double scull title along with Harpreet Kaur. The duo rowed in 7:42.94 to beat Madhya Pradesh's Rukmani Dangi and Sona Keer.

Odisha girls claimed the top spot in coxless four and pairs.

Lt wt double scull: 1. All India Police (Manohar Lal and Immanuval David Singh), 2. Punjab (Gurmeet Singh and Ranjeeth Singh) 7:05.66, 3. Kerala (Vishnu Prasad and Arjun Panicker) 7:12.98.
Coxless four: 1. All India Police (Lachhman Singh, Sushil Kumar, Robin Mangar and Rohit Kumar), 2. Telangana (Mahesh Reddy, Sathish Erva, Sai Raju and T Sunil) 6:39.09, 3. Kerala (R Jithu, PV Adarsh, Paras and Narendra Kumar) 6:45.50.
