“Everybody in Dallas still loves him”: Anthony Davis gives his honest reaction to Luka Doncic’s highly anticipated return to Dallas Mavericks

Anthony Davis is now ready to take the Dallas Mavericks to its former glory amid the team’s constant struggle. The team has been on the receiving end of huge criticism following their former standout Luka Doncic, and Davis, who joined the Mavericks in the surprising yet blockbuster trade, believes a Doncic-Mavericks reunion would be emotional for the fans of the organization.

Luka Doncic is doing his Luka Magic in the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Purple and Gold are set to face the Dallas Mavericks on April 9 at the American Airlines Center. Anthony Davis, who will also meet his former teammates in the highly anticipated matchup, gave his honest thoughts on Doncic’s return to his home ground. “But it’s actually going to be more [emotional] because Luka is coming back,” Davis said in his recent chat with Marc J. Spears of Andscape.

“I haven’t, man. Obviously, it’s on schedule, but I’m trying to get through each game at a time, returning from the injury and making sure that I get a rhythm and get back to where I was. But I’m not. When it gets there, as it gets closer to April 9, [my ex-Lakers teammates] will be hitting me, man, ‘Let us come to the house, let’s hang.’ I ain’t got no house to take them to.”

Davis continued, “Obviously, it’s going to be an emotional game, the first time playing against them [in Los Angeles] next season. But who knows what happens in the playoffs and the play-in.”

Of course, the game will be emotional for Davis as well. “But I think my first game back in L.A. actually playing would be a little bit more emotional for me. I know it will be an emotional game [April 9] just because Luka is coming back, and everybody in Dallas still loves him. So, it’ll be good to see Dallas give him a tribute and everything he deserves just like L.A. gave me when I was there.” He was sidelined during the February 23 game.

Regardless, fans are waiting for their former superstar’s return to the American Airlines Center.
