Golden State Warriors general manager slams Jonathan Kuminga's trade demands ahead of clash against Toronto Raptors
On January 15, 2026, Jonathan Kuminga demanded a trade away from the Golden State Warriors. This was as per the ESPN reporters Anthony Slater and Shams Charania. Kuminga was drafted by the Warriors team in 2020 as the 7th overall pick. Addressing the reports, the team’s general manager, Mike Dunleavy, issued a statement ahead of the game against the Toronto Raptors.
It seems like the general manager wants a valuable return for the player. He believes that for a trade to happen, there should be a demand in the market. While Mike emphasized that the wishes of the player would be considered, the team will do what is better for them overall.
Even though the intention was quite clear in the first line of the statement, Mike continued to add, “But we are always with these guys and tell them that we are willing to work with them. You know wanna help people out. Whether that is JK or any player on the roster. So we are good with his wishes, trying to figure that out.” However, he clearly mentioned how the final decision would always be around what is best for the organization.
