Lamar Odom’s recent DUI arrest sparked fresh scrutiny, but new details show a key business chapter in his life had already closed months earlier. The former NBA champion quietly exited a rehab business partnership well before his latest legal trouble, according to reports. Sources close to the situation say the split had nothing to do with the arrest and instead stemmed from disagreements about values and public messaging. The separation occurred away from public view, even as Odom remained a high-profile figure advocating wellness and recovery. Those closest to the venture say the decision was difficult. The details now offer a clearer context for why the partnership ended and how it predates the incident that later made headlines.

Lamar Odom lost ownership of business venture amid mission conflict

TMZ Sports reported that Lamar Odom’s partnership in a California-based rehab operation ended in late 2023 or early 2024. Christian hip hop artist Dontae Ralston said the decision came less than a year after Odom and his partners acquired multiple treatment facilities. According to Ralston, the issue centered on Odom’s continued public promotion of marijuana while being tied to centers that often treat marijuana addiction.
Ralston explained that the conflict became impossible to reconcile with the mission of the facilities. He said the work was deeply personal for those involved and that the choice was made with heavy hearts. Despite the split, Ralston emphasized there was no bitterness. “We still try to communicate,” he said, adding, “Lamar is Lamar.” He also shared that they continue to pray for Odom and hope he succeeds. When the partnership launched in April 2023, the facilities were set to operate as Odom Wellness Treatment Centers. At the time, Odom promised hands-on involvement and spoke openly about recovery, saying he was “ready to start saving lives.” The venture included a women’s residential home and two men’s detox and residential centers across California.
