On Saturday night, the New York Knicks will travel to play the Atlanta Hawks in an Eastern Conference game. After losing to the Miami Heat at home on Friday night, Atlanta has a 15-17 record going into Saturday's game. However, the Hawks are currently facing some health setbacks. Due to an illness, they have been without Kristaps Porzingis for the last two weeks. Porzingis has been dealing with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), an autonomic nervous system disorder which was diagnosed last season and causes exhaustion and dizziness. However, now, he apparently has some unspecified diseases.

Kristaps Porzingis remains sidelined as Atlanta Hawks prioritize long-term health

Hawks' Trae Young and Kristaps Porzingis are among the three players on the team's injury report. While N'Faly Dante is out due to an ACL tear, Porzingis has been ruled out due to his ongoing sickness. After missing the last few weeks due to illness, Porzingis is still not prepared to play again. According to Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN, Porzingis will be regarded day-to-day following Monday's game against Oklahoma City. Announcing the news on X, Youngmisuk wrote: “After sitting the last two weeks with illness, Atlanta Hawks big man Kristaps Porzingis will also miss Monday’s road game in Oklahoma City and then be listed day-to-day for a return to play, sources told me and @ShamsCharania..”
Porzingis' long-term health is the team's top priority for the season, and he is presently out due to a different disease that they hope will be resolved shortly. Although the POTS treatment appeared to be effective during the summer, this current issue is apparently unrelated to the POTS problem. As he takes care of his health, there is hope for a speedy recovery. Meanwhile, prior to this recent illness, he was in good shape going into the Hawks' season.

Kristaps Porzingis is nearing return as Hawks create cautious game plan

Due to an autonomic illness he has struggled with since the previous season, Porzingis has missed 12 of Atlanta's last 13 games. However, the seasoned forward appears to be recovering and may return later this week. His minutes will probably be tracked whenever he's cleared to play, and the Hawks may start him off the bench before easing him back into action. Mouhamed Gueye and Onyeka Okongwu would probably play less minutes if he returned. The next opportunity for Porzingis to play is on Wednesday at Minnesota.Porzingis, who was acquired from the Boston Celtics this past offseason, has made 13 appearances this season and averaged 19.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.6 blocks in 25.9 minutes per game.
