In the high-intensity environment of the modern NBA, players in their late thirties are often shifted towards either limited bench roles or retirement. With the speed getting slower and recovery time getting longer, maintaining a high-volume efficiency becomes tough. But a select group of legends have shattered the conventional aging curve, maintaining offensive dominance well past the point where most of their peers have stepped away. Even in their late thirties, they continue to achieve elite scoring volume despite the increased demands of physical maintenance. These four NBA players represent the pinnacle of longevity in professional basketball history.

1. Stephen Curry (2025-26): 27.4 PPG

Stephen Curry is registering a staggering 27.4 points per game during the 2025-26 season. Even at 37, Curry’s gravity to attract more than one defender remains the most potent offensive force in the league. His conditioning allows him to navigate through the relentless screens, and still shoot at an efficiency of 48.6% from the field and nearly 40% from the three-point line. Over his 17 season long career, Curry has proven that perimeter-based dominance is not affected by time, and despite running towards the 40-age mark, he has set a new benchmark for backcourt longevity.

2. Kevin Durant (2025-26): 26.4 PPG

PLaying in his 18th NBA edition, Kevin Durant is averaging 26.4 points per game while shooting at 51.4% from the field and 40.7% from beyond the arc. Now a veteran leader for the Houston Rockets, Durant’s 7-foot frame and high release point continue to make him an unguardable asset. Durant’s season is a masterclass in the mid-range game and tactical scoring, allowing him to produce at an elite level despite the physical wear of nearly two decades in the league.

3. LeBron James (2024-25): 24.4 PPG

LeBron James has broken all the records of longevity as the 4-time MVP is currently representing the Lakers in his 23rd NBA season. But King James last season registered an average of 24.4 points,7.2 rebounds, and 8.2 assists while shooting with an efficiency of 51.3% from the field. Even this season he continues to demand attention on the court with his offense and defense. At 41, James utilizes his unparalleled basketball IQ and strength to outmuscle and outthink younger defenders on a nightly basis.

4. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1985-86): 23.4 PPG

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar represented the Lakers for 14 of his 20 seasons, but his 1985-86 season remains the gold standard for big-man longevity. At age 38, The Captain averaged 23.4 points per game for the Showtime Lakers with 6.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists. Kareem’s primary weapon, the skyhook, proved to be the most durable shot in basketball history, remaining virtually unblockable even in his 17th season. Shooting a hyper-efficient 54.6% from the field, Kareem anchored a championship-contending team while remaining a reliable interior scoring presence.
