NAGPUR: If you want your son to get professional cricket coaching and at the same time wants him to get quality education then a cricket residential school, coming up at Talegaon, is the right choice.
Innovative Minds School of Excellence, run by Late Shri Rajsingh Dungarpur Memorial Foundation, has recently been recognized as a CBSE school which follows the curriculum as planned by the National Council of Education, Research and Training.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, the director of the foundation, Romi Bhinder, said they aim to give kid a complete package of sports and academics without compromising on any aspect.
"We propose to start this cricket residential school in Talegaon, a village of 30000-odd population, situated on the NH No 6, around 90 kms away from Nagpur and 55 kms from Amravati. For the inaugural year, the school is looking for not more than 50 admissions ranging from class IV (age 9) to class IX (age 15). The admissions will be based on kid’s cricket talent," said Bhinder.
Cricket activities are going on at Talegaon for the last several years and it has produced many talented youngsters from the tiny place. Rajasthan Royals team practice at the state of the art Talegaon academy before every
IPL season.
Bhinder said he has various plans to make this unique idea click. He said he will have a team of experienced coaches and quality teaching staff which will take care of the students.
Former England fast bowler
Andy McGarry, who has played first-class cricket and represented England U-19 team, will be the cricket school chief coach. McGarry, a Level 3 ECB coach, will take charge at the beginning of the new academic session in June.
"Andy has coached county youth development squads in UK (Essex and Northants). He has worked with Ian Pont in developing cricketers abroad as well as in India. He will work with our school players as the residential coach," said Rajan Nair, CEO of the foundation.
Former Mumbai Ranji Trophy opener Zubin Bharucha, director of cricket, Rajasthan Royals, has designed the cricket development programme for the Talegaon academy boys.
The academy also has a pool of coaches like Monty Desai, Apurva Desai, Santanu Ghosh and
Sunil Joshi, who will be the visiting coaches to the academy.
