On Thursday, Aaron Rodgers will take the field at MetLife Stadium for the first time since the notorious Achilles injury that ended most of his 2023 season after just four plays. This game will not only mark his return but also serve as a testament to the resilience and longevity of the four-time MVP.

In his 20th NFL season, Aaron Rodgers is set to play against a New England Patriots team led by 38-year-old coach Jerod Mayo, whom Rodgers faced twice as a Green Bay Packer in 2010 and 2014.
Adding to the sense of the passing of time, Rodgers' teammate Braelon Allen underscores his longevity; last week, the 20-year-old running back became the youngest NFL player to score from scrimmage since 1930.
"It just gets a little weird when you're playing against head coaches you've played against, you're playing with guys that could be your kid, age-wise, you know," Rodgers said Tuesday, via the team's official transcript. "It's a good reminder of how special it is to still be playing at 40." (via: NFL)

Rodgers boasts a 5-2 record against head coaches younger than him, including playoffs. Notably, Mayo will be the first defensive-minded coach he faces in this category. Rodgers has previously gone 3-1 against Sean McVay, 1-1 against Kevin O'Connell, and 1-0 against Brian Callahan.
After starting the season with two road games, a loss to San Francisco and a win in Tennessee, Rodgers is set to make his return to MetLife Stadium for the first time since Week 1 of 2023, when he made a memorable entrance with the American flag. The veteran quarterback is anticipating a charged emotional experience as he steps onto the field.
"I mean, I feel good about it. It's been a long time since I took the field at JetLife," Rodgers said, utilizing his nickname for the stadium the Jets and Giants share. "So, it'll be a lot of emotions, for sure. But we're thankfully already into the third game of the season.
"Played two full games, body feels good, about as good as it can on a short week."
Gang Green ended their 15-game losing streak against the Patriots with a 17-3 victory in Week 18 of 2023. Now, they aim to start a winning streak of their own, seeking back-to-back victories over New England for the first time since the 2008-09 seasons. The Jets also look to secure their first home win against the Patriots since Week 16 of 2015.
