‘Brand new man’: Cowboys’ DeMarvion Overshown marries lady love Alexis Babino after she carried him through his lowest point
Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown did not just leave his East Texas wedding with a ring. He left with a line built for the internet.
Overshown married longtime girlfriend Alexis Babino on Saturday, June 6, in Tyler, Texas, PEOPLE reported. The Cowboys defender told CBS 19 after the ceremony that marriage already had him feeling different. “I already feel like I'm times 10 aura,” Overshown said.
The wedding leaned into its Texas setting. Overshown wore an all-white suit with a bolo tie and black cowboy hat. Babino walked down the aisle in a strapless wedding gown while carrying red roses.
KLTV reported that guests gathered at The Villa in Tyler for the ceremony. Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer also attended, along with Atlanta Falcons running back and former Texas Longhorn Bijan Robinson.
For Overshown, Schottenheimer’s presence said something about the Cowboys’ locker room. “It does mean a lot to me,” Overshown said. “When we talk about football and the locker room, how much we spend together. When you got a head coach of the Dallas Cowboys taking the time out to show up to his player’s wedding, I think that gives you an inside on how our bonding, how our team chemistry is.”
Overshown also mentioned what the day meant after years of building a life with Babino. “Brand new man,” Overshown said. “I already feel like I am times 10 in aura. You know you got somebody beside you that you ain’t gotta worry about if they’re gonna be there tomorrow. That’s something that you cherish, protect, make sure you love.”
Babino kept her own answer simple.
“Our chemistry is like no other,“ Babino said, according to CBS. ”The first minute we met, first moment, we were inseparable." The Dallas Morning News noted that Overshown and Babino already have two children together.
PEOPLE reported that Overshown credited Babino for helping him when his mental state reached a low point during recovery.
“She was the one to make sure I got home, make sure I was eating and taking care of myself,” Overshown said. “She stepped right in that role, and it wasn't uncomfortable to me, it wasn't forward. You showed me that you can put me before yourself, that's all I need to know. And she would never have to worry about anybody being put before her for the rest of her life.”
He also told PEOPLE that the pressure of his job makes home matter more. “Everybody knows the work I do comes with a lot of outside opinions, outside drama and a whole lot of stress,” Overshown said. “But when you got somebody at home that you know where your next meal coming from, where your next back rub coming from, that's stuff that you get to look forward to.”
Overshown added: “That's stuff that you actually get up and you're ready to work. That little hurt don't hurt as much when you get to come home to a wife, a queen.”
