While attending a Fanatics party in the Bay Area, Fieri shared one dish he believes can instantly upgrade any Super Bowl spread.

The timing matters too. With Bad Bunny headlining the Super Bowl halftime show, Fieri says this dish also pays respect to Puerto Rican food culture. He spoke about it in a relaxed conversation with TMZ Sports, and his excitement was clear. According to Fieri, this food is still missing from most game-day menus, even though it checks every box for flavor, comfort, and crowd reaction.

When asked about a Super Bowl food that people often forget, Guy Fieri didn’t pause. He said, “Mofongo. My mouth waters thinking about it.” For Fieri, this isn’t a trend pick or a fancy suggestion. It’s something he truly loves and remembers clearly from his travels.

Fieri explained that mofongo is a classic Puerto Rican dish made from green plantains that are fried, then mashed with garlic and crispy pork pieces.

He believes it works perfectly for a party because it’s filling, bold, and easy to share. “It is such an appreciated dish that I can’t believe we don’t have more mofongo,” he added.



This isn’t the first time Fieri has talked about it. He said he still remembers trying mofongo for the first time while filming Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.

That first bite stuck with him. Since then, he’s always felt the dish deserved more attention, especially in moments when food brings people together.

With Bad Bunny taking over the halftime stage, Fieri feels the connection makes even more sense. “It really is the next level, flavor, crunch, texture, it’s the real deal,” he said. He also joked that there’s no chance Bad Bunny isn’t a fan of the dish.

As kickoff gets closer, Fieri’s message is simple. Skip one usual snack. Try something new. He believes anyone who serves mofongo at this Super Bowl won’t just feed guests, they’ll impress them.
