NFL star Travis Kelce’s girlfriend Taylor Swift’s silence on £1,200 gift from Edinburgh City Council sparks controversy and criticism

The NFL star and quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs, Travis Kelce’s girlfriend, the global pop star, Taylor Swift is again the news for a rather controversial reason this time. Back in June, when she performed for her legendary Eras Tour, at the Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh, Britain, as per reports, Robert Aldridge, Edinburgh’s Lord Provost had gifted Taylor a custom gift worth £1,200 hamper which had tartan guitar straps, Edinburgh Gin, Lind & Lime Gin, and few special whiskies.

Taylor Swift Did Not Respond To The Edinburgh City Council

While Robert Aldridge thought that Taylor would be accepting the gift and acknowledging it by wearing a strap on stage while signing another for charity, things did not turn out to be like this in reality. Much to the disappointment of Edinburgh’s Lord Provost, neither Taylor accepted the £1,200 custom gift which was curated for her nor did she acknowledge it on stage.


Now Edinburgh’s Lord Provost, Robert Aldrige is facing heavy criticism for spending tax payer’s money on this since this expense was documented in the Edinburgh council marketing budget.




The Edinburgh Council has issued a statement about the whole incident; Ross McKenzie, councillor of Edinburgh said, "The Provost may have been ghosted by Taylor Swift, but there are plenty of people in the area I represent who'd love to meet him to discuss unsanitary accommodation and inadequate care packages."


This incident has come to light when the Edinburgh City Council is already in the midst of a lot of controversy has only 10 seats out of a total of 63 seats. While Taylor and her team remained unavailable to the Edinburgh City Council, as per Marca, a source close to Taylor has revealed that Taylor did not “want to set a precedent” and hence, did not acknowledge the gift.

Neither Taylor Swift nor her team has issued any statements about this incident. Taylor has recently wrapped up her legendary Eras Tour and is now on a break with her NFL star boyfriend, Travis Kelce. While Taylor was doing her tour in Britain, her boyfriend, Travis, had also made a surprise appearance back in June when she was performing at the Wembley Stadium in London. This led to fans going in a frenzy as they could not believe Travis had made a surprise appearance for the Swifties.




As per reports, Taylor’s highly famous, Eras Tour has managed to generate a revenue of $2.2 billion and is the second most attended concert in the world. Taylor has not issued any statements about her next project and as per reports, she will be moving to her home in Nashville so that she can be closer to where her boyfriend stays. There are also rumours about Taylor moving temporarily to Kansas City so that she can be with her boyfriend as his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, enters the playoffs.
