NFL trade rumors: Chiefs linked to shocking move for ‘pissed off’ Raiders Pro Bowl defender
Trade speculation is growing around the Kansas City Chiefs after a failed deal involving a Raiders Pro Bowl defensive end and the Baltimore Ravens. Analysts believe several contenders, including Kansas City, should monitor the situation closely. If the Raiders revisit trade talks, the Chiefs could pursue the frustrated pass rusher to strengthen their defense ahead of another Super Bowl push.
The Kansas City Chiefs could soon find themselves at the center of one of the most intriguing defensive trade discussions of the offseason. With their championship window still wide open, the team continues searching for ways to strengthen its pass rush. A rare opportunity may have emerged after trade talks involving Maxx Crosby unexpectedly fell apart.A deal that would have sent Crosby from the Las Vegas Raiders to the Baltimore Ravens reportedly collapsed despite early agreement. That twist has sparked fresh speculation across the league. Contending teams are now monitoring whether the Raiders might revisit the possibility of moving their star defender, creating a potential opening for franchises like Kansas City.

Chiefs could monitor situation as Crosby trade drama unfolds

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the initial deal between Las Vegas and Baltimore nearly went through before medical concerns stalled the move.“Trade off (Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens for two first-round picks due to medical issues),” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Tuesday night. “Las Vegas (Raiders) had initially agreed to trade the five-time Pro-Bowl DE to Baltimore in exchange for 2026 and 2027 first-round picks.”
That failed agreement quickly caught the attention of analysts and rival teams. Former NFL executive Louis Riddick believes several contenders should closely watch the situation, including Kansas City.“(Philadelphia) Eagles, (Buffalo) Bills, (Chicago) Bears, Chiefs … all have to be taking a look at this Crosby situation,” Riddick stated on X/Twitter Tuesday. “And, how does this change the market for Trey Hendrickson? Huge ramifications.”Riddick later expanded on why the moment could be critical for teams with strong front offices and medical staffs."GM’s (general managers) with a good relationship with Raiders GM John Spytek and a good medical/training staff/strength and rehabilitation staff about to make a deal for a now pissed off All-Pro DE that a single team decided it doesn’t want to pay the price for his services that they originally agreed to. Cool," Riddick said.“One man’s loss, another man’s gain. Maxx about to go off in ‘26. Named a few teams last night that are going to/should be trying to cut a deal. Exceptional opportunity.”For Kansas City, the appeal is obvious. Crosby remains one of the NFL’s most disruptive defensive ends when healthy. The 28 year old recorded 10 sacks last season and consistently pressures quarterbacks with his quick hands and relentless motor.Health remains a factor, as Crosby continues recovering from a significant knee injury suffered during the 2025 season. Still, if the Raiders reopen negotiations, the Chiefs may feel compelled to explore the possibility. For a team chasing another Super Bowl run, adding an elite edge rusher could reshape the defense and shift the balance of power in the AFC once again.
