Raiders head coach search: One finalist withdraws as Las Vegas narrow it down to two

The Las Vegas Raiders’ head coach search has taken another turn. What was once a wide-ranging process is now down to just two known finalists after one candidate officially withdrew his name from consideration.

According to multiple reports, Denver Broncos quarterbacks coach and passing-game coordinator Davis Webb has pulled out of the race. His decision leaves Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak and Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero as the remaining contenders for the Raiders’ top job.

Webb had completed a second interview with Las Vegas, signaling that he was a serious candidate. However, reports suggest he is now viewed as a prime option for an offensive coordinator role in Denver and has also received interest from other teams. His withdrawal narrows the field at a crucial stage in the process.

Klint Kubiak emerges as leading contender

All signs currently point toward Klint Kubiak as the favorite. The Seahawks’ offensive coordinator has been widely praised for his play-calling and role in helping Seattle build one of the league’s most productive offenses this season.



Seattle ranked among the top teams in scoring, and Kubiak’s system has been credited with unlocking the potential of several young playmakers. His offensive background is seen as a strong fit for a Raiders team expected to focus on developing its quarterback position in the upcoming draft.

However, there is a complication. With the Seahawks preparing for Super Bowl LX, the Raiders cannot finalize any move until after the big game. That has forced Las Vegas to remain patient while other teams have already completed their coaching hires.

Reports suggest that if the Raiders formally offer Kubiak the job, there is a strong chance he accepts. But until the Super Bowl concludes, the process remains on hold.

Ejiro Evero still firmly in the mix

While much of the attention has shifted to Kubiak, Ejiro Evero should not be overlooked. The Panthers’ defensive coordinator was the first known candidate to receive a second interview, indicating strong interest from the Raiders’ leadership.



Evero reportedly presented a detailed quarterback and offensive development plan during his meetings, a key factor given Las Vegas’ long-term needs on that side of the ball. Despite being a defensive-minded coach, he has emphasized building a strong offensive structure around a young signal-caller.

The Raiders’ decision-makers, including general manager John Spytek and minority owner Tom Brady, are believed to prefer an offensive-minded hire. Still, Evero’s experience and preparation have kept him firmly in contention.

With Webb out of the picture, the Raiders are now choosing between two distinct profiles: an offensive play-caller with Super Bowl momentum or a seasoned defensive coordinator with a comprehensive vision. A final decision is expected soon after the Super Bowl, as Las Vegas looks to usher in a new era.
