According to the San Francisco 49ers, wide receiver Ricky Pearsall is currently recovering from a gunshot injury to his chest

According to the team, Pearsall was in serious but stable condition before he was released from the hospital on Sunday.

According to the San Francisco Police Department, Ricky Pearsall was shot in a robbery attempt at Union Square on Saturday at approximately 3:37 p.m. PT. He and another injured individual were found by police and transported to San Francisco General Hospital.

Police believe that one of the men injured in the Union Square shooting on Saturday was trying to rob Ricky Pearsall. But soon it is disclosed that the suspect is from the Northern California city of Tracy and is a 17 years old minor.

“The struggle between Mr. Pearsall and the suspect ensued, and gunfire from the suspect’s gun struck both Mr. Pearsall and the subject,” San Francisco Police Chief William Scott said.

The suspect is in custody, he was halted while fleeing the crime scene by other responding officers. No names have been disclosed since the perpetrator is a minor. No charges have been made yet.

According to San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins, criminal charges are likely to be filed by Wednesday and the suspect will face charges in juvenile court as the investigation continues to gather evidence.

The police chief confirmed that two shots were fired from the suspect's gun during the incident. The gun was recovered at the scene. Scott stated that there is no indication that Ricky Pearsall was targeted due to his status as a football player. Current investigations suggest that the suspect acted independently. The San Francisco 49ers selected 23-year-old Ricky Pearsall with the 31st overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He previously played college football at Arizona State and Florida.
