In the world of celebrity power couples, you usually get the classic "met at a Met Gala" or "slid into the DMs" story. But for Olympic snowboarding icon Chloe Kim and NFL wrecking ball Myles Garrett, the origin story is a comedy of errors that belongs in a sitcom.
It all started in late 2024, thanks to a very busy physical therapist they both happened to share.
How Chloe Kim Confused Myles Garrett for Martin Garrix Before Their Anime-Fueled Romance
The therapist, playing matchmaker, invited Chloe to a game between the Cleveland Browns and the Los Angeles Rams. He told her his star client, Myles Garrett, was playing and he’d love for her to come out and support.
There was just one problem, Chloe Kim didn’t know a touchdown from a fast break, and she certainly didn't know who Myles Garrett was.
In her head, the name registered as Martin Garrix, the world-famous EDM DJ.

Chloe showed up to the stadium expecting a rave, not a pass rush. She spent the first half of the game scanned the sidelines, wondering why the "DJ" wasn't behind a turntable. She even admitted later on
Jimmy Kimmel Live! that she was accidentally cheering for the Rams because she had no idea which team her supposed "date" was actually on.
As halftime approached, Chloe started getting annoyed.
"I was thinking, ‘This guy is whack! Why is he not showing up to do his performance?’" she joked. She spent the entire third quarter waiting for a beat drop that never came. It wasn't until her friend gently explained that the 6'4", 270-pound giant crushing quarterbacks on the field
was the man she was there to see and definitely not a Dutch DJ that the lightbulb finally went on.
Despite the rocky, confused start, the two eventually connected over something far away from the football field or the halfpipe: Anime.
While their sports worlds couldn't be more different, they discovered a shared obsession with shows like
Jujutsu Kaisen. They kept things low-key for months until May 2025, when they finally "hard launched" their relationship in the most "them" way possible, walking the red carpet together at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in Tokyo.
From mistaking an All-Pro defensive end for a DJ to becoming the most supportive duo in sports, Chloe and Myles proved that sometimes the best relationships start with a total lack of scouting. Today, you’re just as likely to see Myles wearing a custom jacket with Chloe’s face on it as you are to see them courtside in LA, laughing about the time she thought he was supposed to be playing techno.
