Watch: Emotional Mike Tyson opens up on health struggles in moving Super Bowl LX ad, issues warning about processed food
Super Bowl commercials usually chase laughs or viral moments. This year, Mike Tyson chose a different route. Instead of selling a product, the boxing legend used the buzz around Super Bowl LX to talk about something deeply personal. His 30-second video, posted to his X account, focuses on his battle with weight, processed food and self-worth. The ad is backed by MAHA Center Inc., a nonprofit aligned with the Department of Health and Human Services and tied to the Make America Healthy Again movement. Rather than flashy production, the spot keeps things simple. It is mostly Tyson speaking directly to the camera in a tight close-up, forcing viewers to focus on his words.
Tyson also shared a painful memory about his sister. In the post, he said she died at 25 from a heart attack during her own battle with obesity. For Tyson, the message is about more than diet trends. He describes his health journey as the most important fight of his life. "I'm not fighting for a belt," he wrote in the X post, adding, "I'm fighting for our health."
His message lines up with recent remarks from HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, who urged Americans at a White House event to cut back on highly processed foods and refined carbohydrates. Kennedy later praised Tyson’s video on X. "We don't have to be the sickest country in the developed world," Kennedy wrote. "The answer is simple: EAT REAL FOOD,"
The White House X account also reposted the video with the message, "MAKE AMERICA HEALTHY AGAIN."
In a Super Bowl week filled with hype and celebration, Tyson’s ad stood out for its honesty.

In the video, Tyson opens up about a time in his life when he says he weighed nearly 350 pounds. He describes how his addiction to processed food spiraled and how it affected both his physical and mental health. He argues that processed food kills and connects it to obesity and even death. His tone is raw and personal as he addresses his nearly 6 million followers on X. "I was so fat and nasty – I would eat anything," Tyson said in the video to his nearly 6 million X followers. "I had so much self-hate when I was like that," Tyson later added, as a tear appeared to run down his face.Tyson also shared a painful memory about his sister.
