Edmonton Oilers star Leon Draisaitl spotted in Bayern Munich locker room amid lower-body injury recovery
As Edmonton Oilers Leon Draisaitl is away from the club for the rest of the regular season for the Edmonton Oilers due to his lower-body injury recovery, the star was spotted in Bayern Munich’s locker room at Allianz Arena on Friday. According to reports, since Draisaitl has some free time now, the Bayern Munich fan decided to drop by the Bayern Munich vs. Union Berlin match, which the Bavarians won by 4-0.
According to earlier reports by the NHL, Draisaitl has sustained a lower-body injury in a 3-1 win against the Nashville Predators. Draisaitl left the rink after, getting bumped hard by the Predators' Ozzy Wiesblatt during the first period.
Earlier, he also missed the final seven regular-season games and 11 of the final 14 because of injuries last season. However, the star didn’t miss a game in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, finishing tied with teammate Connor McDavid for the NHL lead with 33 points (11 goals, 22 assists) in 22 games. Though Draisaitl made a surprise visit to the Bayern locker room, Oilers supporters seemed a little concerned as they want the player to be healthy and take rest, as they are expecting him to return by the NHL playoffs.
Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl has recently found a unique way to use his time away from the ice by paying a surprise visit to Bayern Munich's locker room after they won the match by 4-0 over Union Berlin. According to reports, Draisaitl is regarded as one of the biggest fans of Bayern. Reports suggest that he also happens to be a season ticket holder, indicating his admiration for the football club.
As the player has taken some time off from his professional commitments due to his lower-body injury, Draisaitl took the opportunity to attend Bayern's home match, watching the Bundesliga giants clinch a comfortable 4-0 victory over Union Berlin on Friday.
Shortly after the match ended, he headed down to the dressing room area to meet players and staff. In the meantime, many Edmonton Oilers believe that the star should be taking a rest and return as soon as possible for the NHL playoffs.
Sharing a picture of the Oilers forward’s visit, Bayern & Germany posted on their Twitter/X account, “NHL star Leon Draisaitl was at Allianz Arena today and paid a visit to Bayern's dressing room.”
As Leon Draisaitl is sidelined for the remainder of the regular season for the Edmonton Oilers, general manager Stan Bowman believes that it would be a “blessing in disguise” for the player and the team, as “he'll be rested and he’ll be fresh for the playoffs," indicating that the player has a possibility of return ahead of the NHL playoffs.
With 75 points in 68 games, the Edmonton Oilers sit in third place in the Pacific Division. Besides, Money Puck has recently suggested that there's an 80.2% chance of Leon Draisaitl making it to this season's playoffs.
